It took some time and then more time before I got a winch to work the way I believe it should.
...it all started when I bought a Reefs IS 300 Comp Spec winch.

The plan was to install it on a Vanquish Stance. Getting the servo mounted with the required Reefs mount wasn't the challenge. The real challenge has been the transmitter/receiver combination.

First attempt.
Stock Vanquish Transmitter & Receiver.
I do not believe this combination is intended for use with a winch.

Second attempt.
FlySky GT5 & the 6 channel receiver that is common for it to work with.
The winch works, but it's incredibly fast. I can't seem to find a way to use the winch reliably with this set up. It's blazing fast. I didn't get too far before letting this option go away.

Third attempt.
Futaba 4PM Plus & R304SB.
Done. Set up was easy. Using one of the tab controls near the wheel, now I can adjust direction and speed of the winch servo easily.

It took me some time to find the combination of electronics to get me here. Maybe it will help someone else here.
If you have had success using a winch successfully using the stock Vanquish Transmitter/Receiver or the FlySky GT5 I want to know. It is the ability to extend/retract the spool at different speeds that makes me happy with the Futaba set up.

Finally.

A lot of Reefs are programable thru an adapter. Not sure if that would have helped your set up.
Also, RadioMaster MT12 for a radio option with a whole lot of flex!!! 👍

Your truck looks AWESOME!!!😍😎
Programmable servos & other electronics often require a Microsoft OS. I don’t have one of those. At the moment I don’t care to set my Mac up to boot windows. My computer is just old enough for me to have to look forward to the next one…

As it relates to the transmitter/receiver solution, I was lucky enough to have the Futaba transmitter/receiver combo on hand.
It was always available, but it was reserved for racing. I am happy to use it more frequently.

Thanks for the compliment on the rig.
Other than minor adjustments, this one is good to go! Maybe even worthy of a build thread, even if a short one.
