Hey, I got my car back from the lhs yesterday and they started it and showed me that it works. It idles fine for like 5 minutes, and during this I felt the head and it gradually gets hotter. It then stops after like 5 mintues. The problem is is that when I drive it, it will only go for like 2 minutes and then stop. I feel the engine and it is hot. I can never seem to get the engine re-started when it is hot. I then wait back until it gets warm/normal temp, and restart the motor. Same thing. What could be the problem? Thanks

i asked the lhs, and they said that they can't tell me anything just to bring it in and have them look at it more. Thanks

How much did you have to pay? Your lhs sounds like a bunch of idiots... you were running it before... the piston/sleeve is worn out.. Did they fix the head screws? Did they fix anything!?

send the piston and sleeve to osrocket or rayaracing. once you get it back, break it in again, and you will be good to go. what your experiencing is a lack of compression when the motor gets up to temp. it will run ok when cold because the sleeve hasnt fully expanded yet. this happens faster when driving because it heats up faster.

i belive this was an old issue. no matter how he tuned it, there were problems, which is why it was taken to the hobby shop to get fixed.

yes, that is right. But I am now posting after I got it back. They said that it was just out of tune... so they tuned it and now it is a lot better, but not good enough.

it didnt cost anything because I bought it used from them.

buying a used engine in the first place is a bad idea, unless it was somebody you can trust that it was used and broken in properly, but yea only bet is take it back in, and seal up your carb, that may help, you may have a air leak somewhere

sound slike overheating. richen the hsn and you may just have to deal with the sluggishness.

but I richen it, wont it just suck up gas even faster? It already almost goes through a tank in like 5 minutes MAX.

Yep, time for a pinch or new piston/sleeve... You need to straighten it out man... I'm surprised the hobby shop would sell such a piece of poop...

Well, you didn't say which engine it is. If it's a lower end engine, don't bother with a new piston and sleeve. For a few more dollars, you can probably get a new engine. If that's not in the budget, a repinch will be necessary. That would require you to completely breakdown the engine but since you said you're nto that experienced, in another thread, take it to the lhs.

Cut your losses and headaches. Get a new engine or a repinch.

I would like to just buy a new engine and start all over, but I am just thinking about selling my RC10GT and going back to electric to cut down on costs and actually know what I am doing. I learned my lesson NEVER to buy a used engine. I would buy the new engine, but I do not have enough money and then I would have to break it in. Is anyone interested in buying it?
