a friend of mine here at the club is a big maxx guy. super honed w/knowledge on these trucks. runs a (hyper21) big block maxx w/tons of $$$ in it. and while its gettin more and more swamped by the truggy onslaught, he's still gettin in the mix.

the big motorama show was in York PA this wkend. dirt bike and dirt track bike races, r/c, car shows, etc etc. big event. well the unlimited truck class was over 30 strong. another 25 or more in small block (traxxas). and outta all those truggies (err trucks), he got into the Amain again and finished 8th. 1st non truggy.

2005 (blazer 1st-B, center Dom 6th-A, maxx 8th-A)

2004, (left maxx, 1st-B (small block), center Maxx 4th-A, right Dom 2nd-A)

if this result gives you guys a lil inspiration to get out there and fight, glad i could help.

I really want to try to race my maxx after I'm done with it (not big events, just messin around). i have a sirio .27 and tons of other parts, but i want to try it out.

Hey I know they can be a bad ass lil truck...I have one that kills revos and most truggy conversions....I just can't depend on the picco engine to stay running right for a whole day of racing......once it's running if i can keep running it I would be fine, but when it cools down it needs to be retuned then tuned again when it heats up.....

Hey guys,

Not to sound stupid but what is a truggy?

Tom

it's a hybrid of a truck and a buggy....most MTS sit really high and they flip easy but truggies are like a buggy w/ big tires and lower gearing....

Thanks Plad...

I appreciate the info. Are these truggies, MTS that have been converted to buggies, or buggies converted into MTS? Thanks

Tom

These shown In the pictures are Monster trucks that have just been lowered for racing :) very nice trucks by the way!

I'm not sure how many said you couldn't make a maxx competitive, but the quote above explains what I would say it takes to do so.

I agree that it can be competive and durable... as long as you dump a lot of $ into it or just drive it really nice. I took the lot of $ route... then I got a savage.

Usually at the club level of racing, the driver is more of a factor then the RC assuming it makes it to the finish line.

I took the same route..... $$$ This sport really is a disease! One I don't want to cure by the way! I am still sinking money into that Maxx to make it more durable. With all the money I spent I could have bought a better truck.... right?

olds I don't know what you're whinin for...all that stuff I got from you was still very usable......I set up a friend w/ that .21 chassis and now he's kickin my ass.....I just like the way the maxx handles better than the savage.....I'm all about performance and handling when it comes to driving.....and we all know you can't have those 2 factors and get durability....if you think you have all 3 then you aren't driving your vehicle as hard as it can go....

well its had $$$ dumped into it b/c of how old the truck is. it was an orig Tmaxx bought almost when it came out.

All I know is that my savage handles jumps better and lasts longer between needing fixed than my maxx did, and I beat my savage harder. The only thing it doesn't do better is turn in a small radius and for some stupid reason, bodies don't last as long... but they never lasted all that long on the maxx either.

Also, something about the maxx made it seem more agile. I think it was it's weight and turning ability.

Also, I didn't really see anything I said as whining.
