This is a THS pipe modified to sit starboard side. The header coupler, when seated, appears to be a grand invitation for RF interference.

Why would they make the pipe this way?

And what has anyone done in the past to use this setup and eliminate the risk of that interference?

A bead of silicone around the very end of the pipe?

I have one installed on the CyberMaxx. As of yet I haven't had any servo glitches or radio issues from the pipe.

Once installed the end of the pipe doesn't touch the inside of the header. Good eye for detail but I don't think it will be an issue.
jezzz I thought I was anal about the details. :trout:

What model THS is that? How much, & where did you buy it from? I'm in need of a pipe for my Hyper 8 port on my .21 conversion....

i have one on my 8-port. They run $70-$80 depending where you get them.

just to point out the above pictured pipe is not how they normally come. you need this version only if you need your exhaust to run on the right side of the RC instead of the left.

here is the "normal" THS pipe:

the pipe in wdavidhick's picture looks like someone modified it by hand. the ths logo is on the botton and the exhaust nipple isn't the normal one. the stock exhaust nipple is cut out and the hole filled up I'm sure. The only other thing needed is to slice a pice of out the flang on the exhaust header.

you'd think they would manufacture left side and right side pipes.

They do, my RS4 3 requires a right side pipe, and I have the THS on it. RD Logics also makes right and left side pipes.

Yeah, Rob, that's exactly the pipe I bought. If I would have paid attention to the picture when I was buying I may not have bought it. But a dremel, JB weld and a brass fitting work wonders. I'll need new spring mount holes but I won't drill those until I see how it sits.

Yeah, Eddy. I confess. I'm pretty anal about details.

After reading horror posts about metal-to-metal contact that are punctuated with directives in all caps I had to ask about this.

NC, I went back and looked at Tower's site and didn't see a pipe in the orientation I should have purchased.

Thanks all!

hicks, you purchased the pipe already modified or is the pipe in the picture your handywork? i'm confused.

The link you referenced is the pipe I bought. THS-8015.

That's my handiwork on it. (A chrome barb x thread 90° ell would have been nice, but what the hell...)

nice work. is this for a .21 t-maxx conversion? if so, I'm sure everyone that does this doesn't have to hack and slash a tuned pipe to pull it off.

That's what I thought!

But my spatial relationship skills were in the toilet while I was clicking the "buy now" button.

I liked the pipe and didn't see another THS in a mirror configuration, so rather than return it and look for another I just put on the safety glasses and Tim Taylor'd it.

Yes, Hardcore .21 conversion.

chris used an exhaust redirector to make his work. he obviously had to dremel a slice out of the top side of the exhaust coupler too:

ImBroken, I hope you're taking notes. You're going to run into this too.

this is funny this comes up. I was running my T-maxx yesterday and dented and bent the header so it is touching th head of the engine. Now what is happening to me is not rx interfance, but rather the vibration is so much at high rpm's that it makes bubbles in my gas tank so bad that it messes up fuel delivery. No this at first made me think I was lean, had all th signs well technically there are bubbles in the fuel so it is lean but I thought the problem stemmed from needle seetings. So it can suck and effect you in more ways than one................:dancin: <--- me driving my t-maxx.

I remember those pictures of that sweet ride. I'm just now noticing the same pipe!

wdavid, whats this going on?

Hardcore .21 T-Maxx conversion.

I'm takin notes..... So there's no THS pipe that will fit on a Maxx .21 conversion without modification ??? I'm all into moddin, but for $80, I'd like to get one that works out of the box...lol

We really got to get the .21 conversion forum going....lol

No mods needed on mine.
Plug and play.. We are running deflectors because the pipe needs to be lifted up to clear the RX box.

Mine didnt need any mods! ?!?!?!?!

I just added the exhaust deflector.

You can get the pipe for 60 bucks if you shop around too! ;)

Its the same as the RD Logics if anyone needed to know.

Works on both the Savage and extended deck Tmaxx .21 coversions. (will most likely NOT fit on a standard chassis)
