Ok so I've asked this before but never got a great answer. This summer i want to set up a car for parking lot races at my hobby store. The car has to be electric 1/10 and cost is an issue.

I've already got a mamba max 7700 KV system ready to drop in to whatever
I can't decide between a HPI Sprint 2 Kit or a Tc4 kit. The tc4 is much more expensive and my budget for the setup is about 200$ ( I already have the motor )

My question is if i buy the sprint 2 Drift kit. Put foams on it and drop in my mamba max 7700 will i be able to compete with the tc4's?

The sprint kit is only 80$.. so another 100 for radio and servo's then 20 to.. do whatever with. I already have some decent batteries i can use for a while.

Whatcha guys think??

PS.the only difference in the Sprint Drift kit is that it comes with drift tires right? w/o them its a regular sprint?

well that definately helps me budget wise. Any more answers would be good

Drift kit has a drift chassis, drift suspession, drift wheels and tires, drift ackermann setup, drift caster setup, drift ride hight and camber setups. Its never a good idea to try to race a drift car. And the Associated TC4 has great reviews and is a top poler. It also comes with a good race setup stock. Throwing foams on a drift car is like throwing drift tires on a touring car, its not gonna work well because there designed to do completely different things. The Associated TC4 should come with alot of tuned parts to start with anyways and has a much better warrenty if you mess it up. Also much better on call support for advice on setups. If it was me, TC4 hands down. I have nothing againced HPI but when you want an electric car its Associated because thats where they started. Its Associated Electronics Inc.

Oh and if you do want to drift, then get the HPI but you better get aluminum wheels for it, iv had way to many stupid plastic crap wheels split or have the spokes brake off of the center hub because they can't handle that kind of force and abuse.

Ill post a video link or 2 of the team i used to drift with back in Cali. On the first one, note that when we showed the wheels they where all aluminum with Yokomo ZR tires. The second one is just to show us off lol.

Look around and see if you can find an HPI or HotBodies electric touring car.
The HPI version is the Pro4 and the HotBodies is the Cyclone.
Should be able to find them fairly cheap. Around $150.
BTW look for used. I only suggest this because you can get a roller and not worry about the motor/electronics.

Really? I've never had any touring car rims crack or break on me..worst I've ever done is rip the tire off and that was my fault screwing around. Even launched my nitros 5-7 feet in the air.
What brands were you buying?

they break when drifting at full rpm bursts. There not meant to handle that kind of sideways force. We only drift with aluminum after too many broke, and its always the rear wheels that broke. Check my first post in here and look at the videos, it how we make our money to keep up with this sport.

Did they ever make the Sprint2 as a Kit? Or only the Sprint2 Drift as a kit. I really would like to put this together myself.

I think the drift is a kit but I'm not sure, most drift kits are actual kits so they can easly be upgraded as you put it together, like say you want an aluminum radio tray, you buy it and put that 1 in instead of the stock 1 when your at that step.

Looking at the RS4 Pro4.. Why has it been discontinued??

Because HPI owns HotBodies so it wasn't ethical to have 2 brands make the exact same car. The car is still made just called the Cyclone.

None of them are kits. Manufactures are slowly phasing out kits because its cheaper for them to assemble them and its better for quality control. Theres been a few times when kits would be missing pieces and it would cost them more.
This is the one you would want.
Sprint 2 Sport

So there really isnt a way to buy the sprint without a motor and ESC. Dam its just a waste of money for me.
