Not to be a black cloud, but if that’s the case-then absolutely YES… ESPECIALLY in racing, you need to have a solid AF parts support. Old Losi had that back when that car was new… However-they’re not the same company as they were (quite literally, unfortunately), and cannot even supply parts for their CURRENT vehicles-let alone; the 15-20yr old ones they’ve stopped making parts for a decade back..So maybe I should just sell it and buy a newer one? Trying to get into 1/8 racing at the track near me.
I’m a bit partial as I run Tekno myself. That’s a fine choice. I’ve run literally everything under the sun going on the last 20yrs as far as 1/8 scale off-road buggy, and truggy is concerned, and I do believe you’d be hard pressed to find a more durable, or capable build. They’re super tough, handle well, beyond easy to get parts for, and they are far from the most expensive. Their manuals are also second to none. If you hit my profile-select the “find” drop down, hit threads, and I have a few Tekno builds documented. I’ll be doing another here in a few days for my new nitro buggy; NT48 2.2. The EB48 2.2 won’t let you down. Thanks for the warm welcome! Merry Christmas to you and your family! I think I'm going to get a tekno eb48 2.2 unless you have any other recommendations. I'm very new to this
No problem at all brothaman! Hope to see ya around here-it’s pretty chill. That's good to hear! Thank you for the help
I’m not up on the HW stuff, but unless it’s known for having some major deficiencies-I’d run it.. Ya don’t always have to have the latest, and greatest to have fun, or even be competitive.. Most drivers are far less capable than the potential of our equipment, and electronics.. What’s more important IMO are the kV, voltage/amperage requirements, can size (buggy/truggy/etc), and then of course the “add-on’s”, like program cards, Bluetooth Hotwires, etc..Not to bring up a semi dead thread, but I need some help again lol. I got excited and bought a XR8 Plus sealed off ebay for $100. I thought it was the XR8 G2 but I guess its the older one? Would it still be fine to use or should I sell it and just buy a XR8 G2? I need to do more research before I just buy things on ebay lol
Just depends on a few things.. What’s the kv of the motor you’re planning to use? Also what buggy/truggy are you planning to run? The Tekno? Bashing, racing? What are your plans for batteries? Are you looking to run wide open (max RPM) a fair amount, or run on shorter, more technical tracks, or bash sites? Grass, or dirt?ok that makes sense. The one I got does 150amp vs the G2 is 200amp. That shouldn't really matter correct?
You should be in good enough shape with that grocery list imo.Looking at the tekno eb48 2.2 2000kv motor and mostly just racing at the local track. 4s batteries is all i know as of now.
