I want your guys or girls opinion on two engines. Which do you think is beter the xtm 24-7 or the os rg-x (p)? Also what are the cheapest prices you have found them for. And one more thing why do you think the engine that you pick is better than the other? Thanks.......Nick

Well... I know a lot of guys run the RG, but I had issues with it. It had a short life. Just as I was finishing up gallon #2, the crank broke. It actually snapped into 2 pieces.

A friend of mine had his connecting rod shatter at about 1/2 gallon, which busted the piston into about 100 pieces and bent his sleeve so bad that we destroyed the block trying to get it out.

He's on his second RG and probably has a little over a gallon through it. It's a good engine tuning wise though.

I replaced mine with an Omega 21 sport (about the same price bracket as the RG). It puts out 2.5hp and let me tell you, it's one hellofa ripper. I don't know about the life of it though, I only have about 3 quarts through it.

I like to think I take good care of my engines. ARO after every bash day. Keep the engine itself clean as new. Run mildly rich to keep the temps between 200-240. The day mine busted, the temps were running at 205.

I've never had any experience or known anyone with the Os you listed but what I do know is that XTM 24.7(regular or pro) are damn good engines. Peronslly I dont think they are as fast as my storm engine but they are very high quality and easy to tune. They run strong and stayed tuned pretty good.

Thanks for the input guys anyone else have any opions on these two engine? So far i have 1 person for the rg and 1 for the 24-7. Thanks.......Nick

Running too rich (cool), can be just as bad as too lean. If the parts don't have the necessary temp to expand, it puts as much strain on the rod and crank as over-revving it. (over time) That's why you should not tune to temp, but performance. Too high or low of a temp is an indicator of a problem, but normal running temps will fluctuate with weather, humidity, and surface, among other things.
" The day mine busted, the temps were running at 205."

I'm pretty sure that 190-260 is the range you want to be in. It was at 205 when I got to it about 30 seconds later. It blew about 200 yards away. But I was running a consistent 220-240 for about an hour before she blew.
