hello everyone i have a little question one local racer says you temp the glow plug but i read some where last year that you go across bolt pattern like making an x then see where your temps are ranging from i have a mip on board temp gauge i put by the hottest bolt and i also use a raytec tempgun if anyone knows where the best place and most accurate please let me know thanks for your help

I was always told to point the temp gun down at the glow plug, thats usually the hottest spot.

I have a venom probe and if I mount it one fin from the bottom of my S& it reads 260 but when I temp it with my Atomik gun it reads 220 I'm assuming if you muve the venom up mddle ways of the head it will give the same reading as the gun maybe???

Everything I have ever seen or read says to take it at the glow plug. One thing I did see was if you took a piece of masking temp and out it over the center of the head and color the center black it is supposed to give you a more accurate reading by cutting out the reflectivity of the surface you shooting. I have not tried this myself to see if it is true or not. I've used my temp gun to shoot different points of my aquarium and it varies quite a bit but I attibute that to the reflectivity of the water and/or glass.

i put my mip on board temp on the top of the block bottom of the head as far away from the header its usually 10-15 degrees hotter than the plug also so everyone temps the plug not the bolts or the header pipe thanks

with a gun, you take it from the plug. with a temp probe, you want the probe between the bottom fin of the head and the top of the case. you place the probe itself 90* from the exhaust port. i have a venom onboard and it always reads within 2* of my temp gun.

yep, i'm with Corrado. thats how i have my MIP and its reads within 2* of my temp gun. i've used several guns, Radio shack version, duratrax mini, ofna 'no so mini' rayek gun, all read with in 2* of the probe. u just have to place it correctly.

oh, i shoot the plug aslso
