Where to get a tool steel revo primary gearbox shaft?

I wouldn't blame any set of wheels or tires, I'd blame the clutch bell and spur ratio.

17/38 gearing, wide ratio RR gear set.

If the tyres don't hook up then the load on the driveline is a lot less - if they dead hook all that torque quickly finds the weakest link, in this case the primary shaft in the trans.
The big joes behave like a drag slick, lots of sidewall to wrinkle up & take the shock out of the tyre/road interface so they hook up real well.

The big joes are extremely heavy, that's where the extra load comes from. 17/36 isn't too bad, but still a bit low for a big block.
I would run plastic final drive gears. They are plenty strong enough and will help keep the shaft from snapping.

I put the plastic gear for the FOC in instead of the steel RR output gear.

I've got 17/38 gearing in it - needs taller gearing, but have to find a suitable 18/19 or 20t bell that'll work with my clutch & the RR slipper - not easy!

The 17t will have to do for now.

& yeah, those big joes are HEAVY, car is quite noticably lighter with the badlands back on.

No I haven't made that exact part but I am a toolmaker by trade and I can easily make one with a print or something to copy.
Got some nitro trucks for us to have some kind of fun in this time we are all in, my question is I've already broke something in the transmission of the newest traxxas revo 3.3 can still have my reveres on it if I up grade to that robinson rebuild metal kit ? And not sure what to buy Robinson has couple to chose from, please help, I am new to this, thankyou

I don't think they offer the reverse gears anymore. I'm not 100% sure they ever did since the old t-maxx 2.5 transmission. Now, the t-maxx/revo run the same trans gears and the only kits they offer only include the forward only gears.

8002 includes the standard ratio 2-speed gear set
8007 includes the wide rato 2-speed gear set

To get the close ratio, you have to buy a full set, then also buy 8140 and 8026 I believe.

I was thinking about getting the close ratio for my 21TM revo so it can have a bit higher top speed, but the jump to second is a shorter gear so it can accelerate harder at the grass bmx track I run at. But I ended up not messing with it because I rarely drive either of my revo's anymore. The last time I ran one was in 2019 I think and I believe that was my big block revo. They are the only 2 nitro's I have left. I have the standard ratio in both of mine.

Looking at the current parts list for the 3.3 revo, it comes with the wide ratio gear set.

So, if you like the speed difference/acceleration you get when it shifts from 1st to 2nd, stick with the wide ratio, RRP 8007.

My picco .28 turbo powered revo has been chewing up the driveline piece by piece, I've now got to the point that every single component in the driveline is steel (Hardened 1/8 buggy bell with 4 shoe progressive alloy clutch, RR steel slipper conversion, RR full metal gear set, TRX steel driveshafts, steel CV 1/2 shafts, billet alloy diff cups).
I thought I had finally managed to build a bulletproof driveline - then I snapped the primary shaft in the trans.

Maybe my fault - running big joe tyres with a tight slipper on concrete.

I've got a new trx primary shaft on the way, I'll loosen up the slipper & switch to my badlands tyres for higher traction surfaces - that should reduce the load on the shaft.

But methinks it's just a matter of time before I break another one & they are not the cheapest 'consumable' item.

So, anyone know where I can buy or get made a tool steel primary shaft that'll cop bulk abuse?
Was it any luck getting a stronger primary shaft I'm having the same problem with my revo 3.3 with a lrp 32 big block
