Please do not pm me about general rc questions that belong in the open forums. The whole point of the site is to make knowledge public. I certainly will help anybody in anyway that I can but will not respond privately anymore. Let some real pro's help ya too.:)

This is a good point. PMing is useful but really should only be used for personal stuff imo or maybe a quick rc question but most things need to be posted in the open forum for other to learn from. You arent going to get bashed for asking in most cases.

I agree. I you want a faster answer, post it on the forums, don't pm somebody unless it is a personal question, or regarding a transaction.

If you choose to pm because you feel stupid about asking your question, you need to remember, we all had to start somewhere, so ask away, just do it on the public forums.

I get more than my share of PMs about engine problems, and explain that the questions need to be posted in the forum for 2 reasons. So others can also see the solution, and so someone with that engine or that model car can put in info.
I don't know everything about every RC on the planet, but someone here knows a little about something I don't have.
I can't recommend a car I've never owned if they are wanting my opinion.
They only need to spend 5 minutes reading the rules and posting accordingly.
Yeah, right. Like that will ever happen.

I'll sticky it in here for now. Since its prolly going to get alot of reply's, that will keep it alive and get alot of people to look at it and hopefully get the point across. Might have to do a sticky in the Intro section later.

It's basically in the forum rules. If they didn't know how a forum worked, they won't read it there, either.
Just a polite suggestion to post their question in the open forum and you'll reply to it there. That's what I do.

x2. I've helped guys via pm but I've also asked them to post their questions publicly instead, which I think they took for what it was.....or now hate me :hehe:

Now that it's stickied it will never get read by the people that really need to read it LOL

It's not because of you PM reply, everyone on this site already thinks you suck. :)

Lol true. Prolly only leave it stickied for a couple days anyways.

Most people do not read forum rules.

The main reason it bugged me today is because I've thought long and hard about selling my OS. It's rather painful, and I'd like to just get it over with. When I log on and see a pm, I figure it's a bite on the engine. When it's not, my emotions get all discombobulated.:) I've gotten many pm's in the past about stuff that should be in the open forums. Most of the times that I've answered the questions, the person disappears and never comes back. Which isn't very helpful to others. If I had a dollar for every time I've typed the words seal and locktite, I'd own OS. Time to spread the knowledge Newbs!:)
