Hey guys i just uploaded a video Of my slash And in the video i told every one my tires came unglued which they did. So one of my ?'s is i guess i have to use CA glue to re-glue the tires and where the ? comes in is would a hardware store have the glue because i don't really wanna drive 30 miles to the lhs to get the glue if a local hardware store has the stuff i need.

2nd ? is i'm thinking i just want to switch to a true bead-lock and forget the glue so i was wondering if any one has used proline bead-locks and some A/T tires on the slash 4x4 because i'm not really sure what to get. And also i need not only A/T tires i'm looking at getting a set of paddle tires for the dunes and snow so any recommendations would be great.

Sorry for the long thread.

i dont think i would use locktite it would be hard to get the stuff to set up in the bead of the tires... use the super glue and run a nice bead all the way around the tires and that should hold up.

You will want to use a thin CA (Cyano Acrylate) to glue your tires to your rims because it will flow around the rim to actually stick the tire to the rim. DO NOT USE LOCTITE FOR GLUING TIRES TO THE RIM! LocTite is not an adhesive, it is a thread lock compound.

Oh my goodness...locktite on tires?....R I G H T.....ok. Now that we all had a good laugh; no you can't use that. As stated above CA/Super glue is what you use. I use the thicker CA glue myself vs. the thin because it has a slightly longer set-up time which allows me to glue the whole tire and seat it in before it sets. But it is all just preference.

Relax guys, I think he was referring to Loctite brand Super Glue. I once experienced a sidewall tear while racing my brushless truggy and at the time I only had a bottle of Loctite Super Glue Control Gel. I was able to repair the tire, get back on the track and it held permanently. Even after many many packs worth of big brushless tire ballooning power, the sidewall repair never came apart.

Yeah Dom..."IF" he meant locktite brand fine but with this guys track record...lol. The thicker gel type glue is what I like to use on my tires. Like I mentions takes a bit longer but I think it is a bit like the 2 part epoxy..the longer the cure time normally the stronger the glue.

LOL yeah you never know right?

Personally I hate gluing tires. Even when using the thick stuff I can never get the tires aligned as well as a factory glued set from proline or aka. So now I only buy pre-glued tires or run beadlocks.

Yeah I know what you mean. The glue Proline uses from the factory is good stuff...I normally do ok when using the thicker glue...glue the whole tire and spin it in the bead and kinda massage the tire in to get it seated. Beadlocks are pretty good stuff but for the MT they are just so darn heavy.

There are light M/T beadlocks. Look at Maximizer. I use them on my Revo and couldn't blow tires off the rims with my Picco .26. They're a composite material like the various wheels you can get from Proline or others.

That's because you are using that wimpy, gutless, girly, all-show no-go nitro engine to spin the wheels. :D
Ok Dom YOU ASKED FOR IT! I am going to WHIP YOUR ASS with my nitro. Ok fuel check, glow igniter check, receiver batteries check. Ok Yeah here wer go.....prime it up and put on the glow starter and.....um.....Hey you have a spare pack for the roto start? Ok thanks.....so Woo hoo here we go yeah baby....damn it died. Ok let me bring it back over here and tweak the HSN a bit. Ok.....fire it back up and oh yea....it flooded. (mumbles to self) Ok make a few more laps and I will get this cleared out. You know how they are when it's cold out. Ok FINE....you win only because I did not bring a spare glow plug.....consider yourself LUCKY!!....:D

you ever have to scrape the chrome plating off to make sure the glue bonds well between the rim and the tire?

Wolfgang...yes if there is chrome in the bead always scuff it out with sandpaper and clean up with DA before you try to glue it.
