Well I figured id keep you guys posted lol. I am trading my 79 chevy truck for a 69 Chevelle Malibu. He says its a original California car. He got as far as powder coating the frame, replacing the right rear quarter, new trunk pan and new rear springs. The car is very solid except someone thought it would be a good idea to put a sunroof in it..... (id like to smack them) Anyway I am coming out on top for sure. I get a 4 speed tranny just rebuilt with shifter and linkage and a just rebuilt 350 trans as well. Also getting a new edlebrock 600 and a 396 steel crank OH! AND I get to pull the 350 out of my truck before I give it to him. The dash is almost perfect as are the gauges and steering column. It has no interior other than that though. Here is a couple pics. Let me know what you guys think.

The old Chevelle is a great platform to build on, seems to be in pretty good shape too. This and the 69 Camaro are two of my favorite bowties!

I had a 69 Chevelle SS when I was younger.....damn I wish I would have kept it. Built 454 backed up with possi-trac and a Munci Rock Crusher 4 speed. Car was damn sick...If I only knew then.....

You traded what chevy truck?

yeah now look at the crap GM builds. . .oooohhh a G8, F*** that car its garbage and its freakin HEAVY the only good car good car to come from GM recently is the C6 ZO6, and the ZR-1, but if anyone is a vette fan they should know that the vette isn't really a GM product its just marketed by GM, so does that even really count?

oh by the way good find, looks like a great project, we all expect pics as the build progresses

Oh good, I was about to slap you for trading something else, but that ones good lol.

why are the lifters and push rods laid up on the hood? we have a 71 chevelle with the 70 front end. but its been tubbed and has a 383 stroker in it :)

H8, unless he has a garage full of parts in boxes, you're going to have to put some serious coin in that Chevelle to make it right. Looks like the rear end of the body is tweaked too. You will definitely be on Year Ones preferred customer list, lol.

On another note if you still have that white Chevy truck in your possession, any chance you could snap a few pics of the bed for me? I am doing a drop bed in my clod body and could use some reference pics. I need to see the bed, the sides, fender wells, etc. If you wouldnt mind that would be great. Thanks.

Huh? The G8 recieved tons of accolades from major auto mags, including editors choice from Car & Driver. The Corvette has, and always will be built in GM's Bowling Green, KY plant. How is it not a GM product? Also how about the CTS-V 556HP four door that holds the WORLDS fastest four door honors at the Nurburgring, beating out even the mighty V10 powered beemer M5 on their home turf. I will say though, that regardless of whether it's a $15K Cobalt, or a $150K ZR1, GM has the worst interiors of any car on the planet in all their later models. I swear Mattel toy co. designed it. And no, I don't drive a Chevy.

I used to sell GM products for a living and i never liked the G8 to me it looks like a grand prix on meth. . . i also agree that the interiors suck but in complete honesty if you really think about it, the CTS-V and the G8 GXP are the same damn car. i understand what you are saying, i must have miswritten what i had said, you are 100% correct about the GM, but they are not a chevy, corvette is its own "company" if you will, no where on that car does it say chevrolet or even chevy, the only "bowtie" that is on that car is on the corvette emblem and if i am not mistaken it is on the Right side in the red flag(correct me if i am wrong) that is what i meant to say i appologize for the confusion.

I didn't mean to start an argument i was just stating how i felt

Ya I know its going to cost a lot. But the truck is just sitting anyway and ya I will try to get some more pics before I sell it for ya man.

What support colums?

The push rods are from a motor he is putting together I think. The chevelle doesn't have a motor. I have a 350 I'm going to build for it.

Yeah, I didn't mean to clutter up the thread with an argument either, sorry everybody. I understand that, and I'd agree.

Congrats on the find H8, keep us posted on it's progress as you bring here back to life.

Thanks alot Brandon.

Well if you do restore this old beauty, make sure you post up your progress as you go. I love old American muscle and would love to see it as you bring her back to life.

Makes me a little jealous in that I had a '72 El Camino in high school. My best friend had a '70 Chevelle. We had a lot of "class envy"!!!
