700 doller xmods!! :OMG: but yeah they look goood but i would have to spend about 40$ on a bat so i might jus gow with a brushless and a 2-3s lipo. i wonder how much speed that would get me?

mhmm i might upgrade my 18t to lipo and idk if i want brushless it can get way to fast to control or even be much fun

most likely

i mean, with the stock motor, mine has cartwheeled 20-30 feet and also slid on its lid for like 20-30 after cartwheeling 20-30 feet down the hill thats next to my house...no damage done on the durable 18t but some scratches and coming unglued tires

do they have on+ off throttles??? bu ya i agree. how high can you jump them??

These cars are 1/18 scale so taking the bigger jumps that 1/10 and 1/8 scale cars normally take will put some punishment on them. Do a search in the member projects to look at Lessen's 1/18 ramps for an idea of how high you can jump them.

If you are leaning towards going with a lipo setup, take a trip over to the electric forum and read up on batteries and chargers. A basic lipo setup with a single battery, charger, and balancer will run you easily over the $150 mark. If money is an issue, then stick with brushed motors and nimh packs until your wallet can afford it.

What is good to one person may be "not enough" to another. Please be more specific in what you desire from your mini. If you haven't purchased a mini yet, I would suggest buying one and running it stock. From there only you can decide what more you will want from it.

There is no point in getting yourself jacked up to spend $200 in upgrades on a mini you don't have, and then plop down the money on both and realize it's not what you are looking for in a vehicle.

He speaks the truth! I have an 18T with a Tekin mini rage 6800 brushless setup and at top speeds it is all I can do keep it on the track. The tires are barely touching the ground. I think the thing woudl take off if it had wings!

Good advice as well. You much better off buying the vehicle, running it, seeing what it can do stock, before you decide what you want to upgrade. Trust me, I made this mistake with my first real RC. I bought all these upgrade parts with the buggy, just to find out I should have spent my upgrade budget on other parts. With the 18T, I think you will find that even stock you will be happy with the speed, and that the one area that needs upgrading the most is the steering setup.... not the motor. Buy one and give it a shot first... then upgrade. I think you will be happier in the long run. Great advice Sweet D!

18t Upgrades

My first real electric truck was an 18t. I bought the truck and the Factory Team Aluminum upgrades with it. Other than not remembering to use Loktite on the screws, the thing is basically bullet proof, but verrry heavy. I use a Reedy SP-19 brushed motor in it and it still really quick. I would recommend this truck and setup to anyone.

If you have less than $250 here is what I recommend:

RC 18t
Reedy SP19 Motor

Later change out the stock ESC for something better. I use the Novack SPY in mine and it's great.
