It was an attempt at rye porridge with new flakes I ordered, but they just wouldn't turn into the right consistency, so in the end it was essentially a hot bowl of muesli thickened with rye flour

Never tried it. That looks extremely healthy and good to eat. I love raw porridge oats in the morning (cold - just milk and a spoonful of sugar), so this should be right up my street!
