Eating at Chilli's today. Picked up my year book from school, which took a long time to come in.

Me and dad were going into the Toyota dealer for some service for our Camry. Turns out we have to do by appointment which is fine. We are only in for the front bumper clips.

Funny thing is that I had my Chevy hat on, so before going in I took it off and left it in the car. Yea I don't think I wanna wear Chevy merch in a Toyoda dealer. 🤣

Holy moly, they must be slow today, our food came out in 6 minutes. Sometimes faster than most of the McDonald's! 🤣 (JK)

Nah. I doubt Toyota service guys care about that. However, the opposite would be more likely. I've heard that in some Detroit plants, you can't come onto the parking lot with a vehicle they don't produce.

Perhaps in the 1950s maybe. These days, plants need workers, and dealers need people to buy new cars. Neither of them care how you get there in modern day consumerville.

I can't read the article because it's behind a paywall.
Hmm

Anyways, here's a screenshot of what's pertinent to the reference from my post. As I had mentioned, this article was from 2005.

That says union halls, nothing about dealerships or the plants themselves. They probably also tow you if you're behind on your union dues.

I made no mention of dealership just the assembly plants which the UAW has a mighty grip upon. With the mentality of hardcore union people, I suspect it would be frowned upon to be showing up for work in a foreign vehicle. Even if there is no sign, I'm certain it's an unspoken thing and greenhorns will be made aware of it.
This is all speculative, but I suspect, from knowing and talking to union people, that the mentality is still alive and well today.

Ok, back to food!
I've had nothing yet, but coffee. Got a container of overnight oats I'll be eating in the next hour.

True, unions take things pretty seriously.

Back to food, haven't even had lunch yet, at 2:30PM. I'm starving.
