Never heard of that one, and I love shrimp!
I did have a neighbor once that would only eat the tails ... :wacky::spitoutdummy:
You would deep fry much longer than what is required to fully cook the meat. The extra cooking time makes the shell material, including the tail, brittle, and just crumbles when chewed on. I use cornstarch and flour to coat the shrimp, which fuses into the shell material making for a very crispy texture.
A local all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet by me, serves salt and pepper shrimp like this, and they leave the heads on. I eat the entire thing. So good!

Not gonna lie....I've got my fingers crossed that this would happen. Preferably, he would also wets his pants during the episode. 😈

Then you should probably carry on about the lack of deveining the shrimp in this process....leaving in the line of sh%t adds x flavor/texture and so on....

Apparently, you're not familiar with deveining shrimp with the shell still on.
