I wanted to try something unusual, since I never tasted pure rye flour bread. I'm creating this starter to use it for pumpernickel bread.

I somehow gathered all my patience to ferment one day, bake one day and cool down one day, but the pumpernickel failed. It's one big sticky jelly.

However, the smell and surely the taste are definetely there, so I'll try it again soon. The recipe is probably good, but I made it have a water bath in the oven, and the bread pan didn't seal well enough so it let water in, resulting in the jelly.
I'm actually quite convinced that I'll finish eating this large 2kg chunk of earthy tasting chewing gum before I create the next one
