i just want to know what is the highest safest temp to not blow the engine in an os 18 tm for revo , just curious for futur reference

There isn't a definitive max temp. There are too many variables involved to say that any particular temp is a max safe point. I've run my hyper mach 28 at 320 F with zero problems and it still runs extremely well and starts well.
As long as it is getting a rich enough fuel mixture to get plenty of lubrication, the temp it reaches is less of a factor as opposed to getting hot due to being lean.

ya I'm just trying to get alot of different types of temps people are getting , mu lhs says that 260 is too high already , bu ti was getting good smoke and no probs, so i dont see why it would be bad , in the manual it says the same thing , 220 to 250 is the safe range, but lets say i would get u pto 300 and good smoke and cuuting out is that still ok for the engine , would it burn it out fsater lets say, i know about the variables , but theoretically?

well this is all i got from the manual for this engine:

Caution:
The rear crankshaft bearing of this engine
uses a special plastic retainer. If the front
housing needs to be heated to remove or
replace the bearing, do not allow the
bearing to exceed 120C (248F), otherwise
it may be damaged and rendered
unserviceable.

hope that helps a little.

it really depends on the engine I've had some that run great at 220 and others that were dogs until they hit 280 as long as you have a good smoke trail you should be fine there are way too many variables between the fuel and oil packages as well as engines to make a standerd max temp.

That being said a good starting range is 220f - 280f then use your best judgement.

That's the temp at the bearing, not at the engine head. I've got an OS tz.12, VZR-II and an HPI F4.1. All of them use a plastic-retainer bearing. All of 'em have been near or above 300F at one point or another, and are still perfectly fine (verified by way of complete teardown).

Personally, I think the motor would flame out before the bearing will overheat and melt.

The first thing that temp damage affects is the piston thrust-face to the sleeve(cylinder) surface, all other components in the engine run much cooler than at that particular point, and can withstand more temp than that point in the engine. Lubrication is the key, not temp.

cool , i feel that the answers are helping to get an idea, thanks
