what type of fuel do you guys use for your nitro cars and also which one is best? i currently use Odonnel racing and am about to try the HPI stuff

I use JAC Profuel (made in florida) 20%............it comes cherry scented!

i can vouch for most of us using 20% nitro whatever the brand, but I'm sure you already knew that... after that its generally personal preferance.. there are a couple of things to keep an eye out for... #1 is the amount or percent of lubricants in it... generally the higher the better... but more importantly what lubricants are used in it and the amount of each of those... i am not a fuel expert but i am sure that someeone will be able to give you more specifics on what to look for

SUp dude,

Like most anything in life, their isn't a clearly defined "the best"...if their was then most everyone would be running it. THe fuel your running now is DEFINITELY one of the best IMO and many. O'Donnel kicks ass....it does have a funky smell at times but smellls like victory to me. It's all a matter of personal prefference and what you plan on using that specific fuel blend for. "Basher blends" generally have a high % of lubricant oils...your engine will run cooler and last a little longer but it will slow it down some. Sem-Race or Full race blend will have less oil ..Your egine will be run hotter but your engine will be slightly faster bro.

Notable mentions are

O'Donnel - SOme people don't like the way it smells but your already running it. WHat do you think?

Team Sidewinder - Their race blends are great and I love their "backyard basher oil.

Traxxas Top fuel.....it works great

Trinity fuels - All are great but can be pretty damn pricey

Blue Thunder - Many people sware by it.

I forgot the name of my fuel ill edit this later but my lhs said that blue thunder bulds up more mostiure than the stuff I buy from them its no price diff they just said that you can't store it verry long.

Then they don't know how to store it.

All nitro fuels are hyrgoscopic. That means they attract moisture. Nitro fuel should be stored in a cool dark place. I have stored gallons of the stuff for up to six months with no moisture issues. AND I am one of those who swear by Blue Thunder. It's the only stuff I use.

blue thunder huh? sounds good

heres my seneiro (i know I'm crappy speller, part of being a redneck...)
epic.18 bigbore what fuel to use? all the fuel at my lhs are priced within 20-25$ range so i can get any of these *ones I'm looking at
bluethunder*
traxxas top
sidewinder bashblend
odonnell*
omega
HPI dominator

I like the Blue Thunder. Easy to tune and runs cool in all of my engines.

I've heard great things about O'Donnell.

I refuse to use anything with the word TRAXXAS on it.

The others, I have not heard of in use around here (here being where I run in Virginia Beach).

Good point Skymaxx about moisture.

Blue THunder is most literally a tried and true fuel. If an LHS says that Blue Thunder attracts moisture more then any other fuel then he's lying to you to sell whatever brand of fuel he has or he's ignorant on the subject.

Team Sidewinder's BackYard basher is my absolute favorite "bashing" and crawling fuel. Harcore Nitro monster truck rockcrawling is becoming HUGE in this part of the country. When your reving your engine hard with low gearing and it's not moving much.....it's getting hot..lol. More lubrication keeps your engine running cooler. O'Donell is great chit.

As for Traxxas top fuel, I've been running in for like 1.5 years now and it works great. It's consisent as they get. I can't imagine why Skymaxx wouldn't wanna try it, unless he hates TraxxASS...lol.

I'd have to admit that I may never buy another NEW Traxxas product again. If you look @ allot of the things on the Maxx it becomes very apparent that Traxxas is a smart company. They use threadlock where it's needed and they used sealed bearings where they're needed to limit their liabilites. They wanna make money on broken stock parts of inferior quality and unlike many compaines like AE, their aftermarket hop-ups are unimpressive.

Peace

thats true about the aftermarket parts. i bought the old t-maxx from new and i was impressed but it was my first nitro so i would have been impressed with about anything. so 2 years later, little brother getes 2.5 sportmaxx, i was most impressed with the power the 2.5 was dishing out compared to the trx pro.15, i like the new a-arms except that they have a designed breaking point. (the whole arms is nice and thick till you get to the spot where its pinned to the bulkhead, traxxASS made it thinner to break, sometims theats good, but by the time you break the spot where its pinned, youve bent pins and busted bulkheads, so it basicly just adds more parts to replace when your truck slams into the curb.

thank goodness for RPM!!!:classic:

I run traxxas top fuel, no probelms with it and the lhs has it on hand. My two cents.
Pee Wee

I have just tried Traxxas Top Fuel 20% and so far so good. It seems to keep my motor cool. I used O Donnell 20% for the most part but got a gallon of the Traxxas for free. I also used 30% in my motor and it kept pretty cool as well and it flat ran like a bat out of hell, fast and good. Not sure the name of that brand.

 I see that no one has mentioned Wildcat Eliminator or Quikfire at all. From reviewing the specs on their website it seems pretty good. www.wildcatfuels.com They also tell you everything you need to know about their fuels and doesn't keep you guessing on what is actually in it.

I have a Savage 25 as my first Nitro and currently making final decisions on essential hop ups including fuel before a start her up!

As 30%NitroBOy said, I swear by my 20% Blue Thunger. I runs good and cold. Peronally I don't like that Traxxis Top Fuel unless its on a Traxxis engine. Trinity Monster HP is suppose to be real good. All in all though I'm happy with my $20/gallon Blue thnder

how much of a diffirance in eng temp would the blue thunder make

It I'm not quite sure. I run my .21 GS Storm about 2 1/2 turn up from lean. I can run a full tank and measure it as soonas the engine has just ran the leanest(out of gas) and check and i get about 180 - 200 degrees.
