RC Driving Style
OK, a co-worker wanted a MT. He never had a hobby grade RC before and he wanted his 3yr old and 6 yr old to drive it as well. He wanted ele,not nitro,so I ordered up a E-Maxx from Tower for him.I got it and charged up the 3000's I got for it and tried it out,worked very well.Then he picked it up..........

Fast forward 3 days...............

He has now sunk like $400 more(Hobbytown prices!!) into it just in repairs!!!!He is HARD on it so are the kids. The only Al. he has put on it are the bulkheads. What else should he replace with metal? What should he leave plastic so it has a give point?? This is only a basher will never be a racer. I would like to make this as bulletproof as possibile,he loves it!!!!

I like the aluminum skid plates and chassis braces. They tie the whole truck together. I also suggest getting some rpm a arms and axle carriers... That should do it. If he needs it, maybe some lunsford ti. turnbuckles and some aluminum shock towers. I like the UE shocks, and if he needs to upgrade, that would be a very good choice.
 
Personally, instead of the aluminum plates, I'd go with the RC-Solutions spring steel plates. Less likely to fatigue when they bend. And they fit nice.

Maybe RPM towers and arms like 21Rc10GT said.
 
Rpm all the way is what I would do aluminum just weighs it down and will bend, this coming from someone who has a ton of aluminum lol
 
i dont like the rpm shock towers... the flex a lot while jumping and do not have any adjustibility...
 
Whatever you do, keep using the stock "plastic" bumper mounts... These are
your "Give Points".. They are cheap enough to replace. Aluminum skids will bend on impact.. Go with RPM's or the RCSolutions Spring Steel skids..
 
RPM skid plates are good. They cover the stock plates and don't replace anything. They just give added protection.

I'm rebuilding a stock Maxx from scratch. (If you've read some of my other posts you can roll your eyes and say "shut up already".)

But...

I'm thinking that RC-Solutions' roll cage will protect a sh*tload of other stock parts.

RPM arms are always a good "give" point.

So are the stock axles for the drive train.
 
LOL,yeah the stock skid was the 1st thing he broke,so he bought 3 set of them!!! He is going to call me today,he said he broke something on the rear and the front wheels are not pointing the same.....lol. I said "What did you hit?" He went WOT into a mail box post, he said it bounced off and flew the other direction! I keep telling him Hobbytown prices are way too much,but he just wants to run it NOW so he keeps going back!!
 
If he orders RPM skids now he might get them in time to protect his last stock one!
