I'm finding that all the good Electric RC support equipment uses 12v.
What do I want to look for as far as specs go when choosing one. I know there are several preferred units for RC but I have a good source for this stuff. Just need to know what to look for as far as basics and what other features would be a bonus.

Well I don't use those Hobby P/S. I have a Radio shack one that is has a regulated VOltage and an adjustable current setting. Great for me.

i use a duracomm LP-25 12 volt power supply. its output is 25 amps peak and 22 amps continuous. i power 2 chargers at once to the unit (lrp pulsar 2 & aps 3-in-1) all day. i also use it to power my tire truer to it which needs 12 V at 20 amp. when shopping for a 12V power supply you need to verify if it can supply the min amps for the electric devices. Most battery chargers need around 12 V at 7-8 amps to be sufficient.

i just use a converted computer PS. but then i only charge receiver packs. you will probibly want at least 20A of power if your taking up electric.

funny this thread was up already, I found out last nite the limitations of a 20A PS last nite.....I can not run my Ice charger, Glow-bee & Starter box from 20A....LOL....oh well it was worth a try....I guess just get a 50A PS and you'd be set Eddy.....I gut a tripp-Lite PS from an Electronics Warehouse for 90 bucks.....good stuff we use em at work alot......I want another one so I can power my box and all my chargers while at the track and never worry about batteries...

Hey guys if I were to hook my starter box to an old computer ps would it work good? I always thought about doing something like that. At our track we have outlets that we can use, so I thought that would be a good idea.

well last nite my box stopped working for some reason....my chargers would still work from the PS and nothing smelled cooked so I don't think it was that.....I've been using the PS instead of teh battery for a few weeks now and it seemed to work well......I never checked the current when the box was under load so I'm not 100% sure what it draws but I figured saying 10A would be a good safe allowance.......

They seem to jump by 10 amps.
10,20,30.......
I saw some of the Triplites for a reasonable price up to 50 amps.
One will need a 2 wheeler to get it around.

actually is not that heavy......it weighs about 20 lbs I think.....in retrospect I should have gotten the 50 for the extra 20 bucks it was gonna be at the time......and besides if you can take that to the track you won't need to haul the battery for the start box....

I'm sorry to tell ya, "Mr.FastEddy" but this is NITRO TALK... Thank you...
