What to cover my work bench with?

I covered my bench with a cheap piece of white particle board very cheap for a cheet and a sheet gave me enough for one top and 2 extras should I ever need them. I covered that with all manner of decals as decoration and then over top of that I went to home depot and bought plastic "runner" material and got enough of that to cover the top of my bench 4 times. Thinners, fuel, grease etc would hurt the plastic material. it lays flat and its clear so I can see my decals etc under it. I can also cut on it with a razor knife and while eventually it will get cut up to the point where you will want to replace it its cheap enough that its not a big deal. I bought 4 pieces about 8 months ago and I'm almost but not quite ready to switch out the first top cover with a second one. I beleive all 4 pieces cost me about 20 bucks? maybe 24? It comes in giant rolls that are up to 24 or 36 inches (soemthing liek that) and you buy it buy the foot so you can get pieces which are 2ft wide and 3.5ft long. which perfectly covers my bench (I have a small bench). I just screwed it down all along the edges of the bench so it doesn't slide or move at all.

Heres a picture of mine with the plastic runner material on top...this current layer is starting to look like crap and needs changed out but its lasted along time for no more than it costs. I only have my actual work area of the bunch covered with it and didnt cover the whole bench just to make it easier to change out without having to clear the entire desk. I also lined my work area with weather stripping since I dont have a magnetic work mat it keeps screws, washers, etc from being able to roll off the desk. I left one small area open so if I'm dremeling or something I have an area to clean off the shavings from the desk.

Excuse the mess I have a tear down and rebuild in progress atm. :)

I need more decals!!! :)

Your work bench looks awesome Woodie. I want some of that peg board around my work area too. Another thing I did was bought a small 12X18 inch piece of sheet metal and screwed it to the wall next to me and I have several magnetic bowls stuck to it where I keep alot of my screws etc wwhen I'm working. :)

I have a craftsman workbench with the butcher block top, works great for me and easy to clean.
