This question is both nitro and electric related. Anyone know what size motor is in the nitro starter boxes ? Anyone ever shoehorn one of these monsters (or two) into a MT or other ride ? They turn over the nitro motors failry well and seem to have tons of torque. They even look like some drill motors I've seen around.

well the dual ofna box is 550 sized motors and they suck, reason they got torque is they are geared all to hell.. the bigger/better boxes use a single 12v motor direct drive.. which wouldnt work unless ya up your battery pack. whynot just buy a modified motor thats made for your car ?

And....

Those motors are prolly around 30-35 turns with zero timing.

We used the old Mabuchi 540 then the Johnson metal endbell 540 in pan cars years back at a local track and thats what turn they were IIRC. If you dyno one, it will pull near the same numbers running forward or backwards, next to zero timing.

For the cost of them, unless you rebuild old Tamiya cars or run a spec class that requires them, they are garbage.
