Hi everyone!

I have designed an onroad race car and I need some shocks for it before I build it!
I'd like them to be oil filled.
The car is 2wd and is to be used on tarmac.
The tires are 99mm dia
I have done some research but would really be grateful for any suggestions.

I would look at hpi nitro rs4 or even the rs4 sport ones myself.they always had great shocks and diffs stock.

What kind of ground clearance and mass will the car have? Sounds to me like a fairly large car if the wheels are 99 mm. I’d look at 1/8th shocks at least.

The cars clearence is about 10mm, weight should bs about 1.2kg and the volume is about 18720cm cubed, do you have any idea about brands, type ETC.
The car will mainly be used on tarmac

Mugen, or Xray.
Ok,try em out. I'd like use the same type of shocks as the traxxas xo-1 shown below. By the way, anyone here had an xo-1?

You said that you had already designed the car.. If that were the case, would your requirements for said shocks not be quite a bit more specific than “same type of shocks as _______.”?

Such as OD, installed height of the spring, overall length at full droop, overall length compressed, volume, piston design, and pack (arguably most important for being able to turn like a 1/8 GP pan car, and still do over 100mph)..

Stand-off, and bushing design, lower (or upper?🤷🏻‍♂️) rod end, and how much room do you have for the spring cup? Does your design require bladder, or emulsion?

Also last night when I was doing my best to answer your questions, and help you out, you said it was 4wd, not 2wd… 2wd wouldn’t come anywhere even CLOSE to doing what you required.. That’s what having a center diff means… How much actual real world experience do you have with onroad RC cars?

I’d be curious to see this vehicle that you have “designed”…

You probably misunderstood me. The design is still on the CAD site, so there is room for improvement. And I thought I made it clear in my reply to Lumikko that I was looking for brands, not size. If you want to know the existance of my design, when I have finalised it, I'll send you a sreenshot, or even better, send you photos of the build.

With that weight and ground clearance, you will probably be happy with 1/10 shocks because of the selection of springs. Touring car shocks (50 mm) might be on the short side, but an eye to eye length of roughly 55–75 mm should be good. Front shocks for off-road buggies are something to look at.

Cheap shocks can be a pain. Get something like LC Racing if you want a good bang for the buck.
