Greetings.

I have a Storm. I need to replace the shocks.

I look at Horizon, and they have the GS Performance Shocks in three sizes, small medium and large. Which ones do I get? Which ones come with the Storm Pro?

Also, if you have any recomendations for shocks, please feel free to share.

I'm hoping to put in an order tonight so I can get the stuff by the weekend, when the local track has it's season opener.

Thanks again.

I want Storm Pro shocks or better, and those aren't them. I have been unable to locate the Storm pro set on Horizon.

I see this:

http://horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=GSC125

Which says "Sto" so I'm assuming it's the Long Performance shock for the Storm.

This one:

http://horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=GSC124

Says "S" so it could be sonic, but it is probably storm because it's only one part number away.

And then there's these:

http://horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=GSC123

They are yet again only one part number away from the medium ones, and again they say "S" because Horizon apparently has a character limit on part names.

The question still remains, which sizes do I need to put on my storm? Which is best?

So whatever, it doesn't matter. I just need a good shock. It doesn't seem as though anyone here ever replaces them.

I mess with them a lot. I ended up making my own bushings and pistons out of delrin, because the stock parts suck. I also have Kyosho 3mm shafts, again cause stock suck. Look for shocks for a Kyosho Kanai 3. They are the same length as the storm, and much better - they have the 3.5mm shafts.

Since I couldn't seem to find the right K3 shocks, I just went and got the Storm Pro ones. They seem nice enough. Sturdy caps and bodies, although the shafts will probably bend on my pretty easily. They were cheap enough and will get me by for awhile.

I do have a problem with them though. The springs are way short. I mean, short as in both the front and rear springs that came with them aren't even long enough to extend from the bottom to top unless they are setup with a huge spacer. And even then, the thing is riding way low. Unless I want to see sparks when I accelerate, this won't work!

I plan on getting some new springs, and I've been recommended the Kyosho powder blue springs for general purpose use. Anyone have an opinion on springs?

I also think I need heavier then 35wt oil in these things, what do you recommend?

I'm sorry for asking all these questions but the LHS's around here seem really clueless when it comes to shocks. They don't stock any (except walls of T-Maxx ones) and don't really have any know-how. So I have no choice, you see!

I upgraded my Storm shocks with a set of Mugen shocks. Mugen make a great shock. I bought them at my LHS and for the life of me, I can't find them on the net. I can highly recommend the Mugens.

I use the storm double springs, long and short in back, med and short in front. Oil weight and spring stiffness depend on your driving conditions. I go with 50 wt oil for my own track with big jumps, but that is too stiff for normal r/c tracks.
