I'm kinda confused here.. I bought a t-maxx from a friend about 4 years ago and I think its a .15 pro t-maxx but I'm not totally sure..

It had a rotorary carb on it(not a slide carb for sure).. The battery and receiver box were black..

I have since upgraded it to the 3.3 t-maxx but my transmission is still the stock .15(or whatever model it is) and I want to do a foc and maybe a wide gear ratio conversion to it but I dont know what "model" to get the parts for.. Anyone help me?

I attached a picture of what mine used to look like before the 3.3 conversion..

Hard to tell from that pic, but if the original engine had a CNC machined blue cooling head and a rotary carb, it was the .15.

Err.. I dont have the original t-maxx together anymore since its upgraded to the 3.3 t-maxx now.. The transmission is black is that helps.. I see the "newer" ones are grey..

It did have a rotary carb on it but its wasn't the orginal engine either.. The guy had a Novarossi engine on it when I bought it..

Can you take a shot from a little further back, so we can see more of the truck, especially the width of the a-arms. The original pro 15 version was narrower than the 2.5 and 3.3 versions in it's stock form. Although it may have the pro-line wide maxx kit, it still may help us to help you identify it.

all the black tranny stuff is interchangable. you can't put black tranny parts in a gray tranny or vise versa. so as long as you use a 2.5 and older maxx parts you will be fine.

I still have the old Classic Tmax that came with a pro .15 but i put a OS.21 in it and the tranny was fine....my chassis looks like the one you have

Yeah, the old pro .15 maxx had single position shock towers. The 2.5 had 3 position (like yours).

you can't tell for sure because more than likely of the 4 year life of this t maxx it has broke its shocks towers and may have been replaced by the more common 2.5 shock tower.

how long ago did traxxas start making the trx 2.5?

My old pro .15 T-Maxx looked just like the pic. Same shock towers, reciever box, tranny, battery box, bulkheads.

the carb linkage looks like it's on the right side wouldn't that mean it's a .15 ? weren't the 2.5 and up on the left side. because when you put a 3.3 on the .15 you need to drill a new hole for the carb linkang bellcrank.

You are correct... the pro .15 had a one piece throttle linkage that bent down after it went over the spur gear to connect to the carb....
when I first got my pro .15 it was used but had wide maxx arms and the adjustable shock towers.... looked like it was all stock but who knows?

Also you need the FOC for the pro .15 since the tranny is black

The narrow suspension as well as the shock towers might have been upgraded. I'm pretty sure that's the same body that came on my .15, but all the factory Tmaxx stickers have been removed.
No one in their right mind would downgrade from the 2.5 engine to the .15, so you can be pretty certain that's what it was from the start. The 2.5 would also have a screw hole and alignment pin hole on the side of the engine where the throttle tower for the bellcrank would mount.

i just rebuilt a .15 maxx and sold on ebay-judging from your pic of the throttle setup on the servo-that is the 2.5 throttle setup-the .15 had the throttle servo set-up on the right side of the servo(looking at truck front to back). and the holes for the throttle bellcrank(1 big one in middle and 2 smaller ones on the outside) right next to tranny. also the .15 maxx has the throttle linkage going up and over the spur gear for rotary carbs on the right side of the servo arm. another way to tell is the suspension arms-ovb. the 2.5 is wider and the .15 arms only have 2 ride height adjustments(2.5 has 4). plus on the .15 arms-the lower suspenion arm mounting-the screw goes through the link end on the shock 1st and then into the arm-2.5's go through the suspension arm-then through the shock and finally through the suspension arm again to mount the shocks. any help?-also 2.5 stuff bolts right onto the old .15-tranny included-3.3 stuff will not work
