Hi, I'm new to the hobby, but I want to make a new body different from everybody else.
I painted one already. Looked great until i rolled a couple of times.
What kind of paint should I be asking for?

i personally only use Parma Flaskcolor. they have cool colors and stay on very good. and yeah if you didnt do it the first time paint on the inside of the body.

You need special paint for lexan rc bodies, it remains flexable once its dried. I have used both Parma and Pactra and I like the Pactra Acryl much better than parma. Are you using an airbrush or rattle cans?

Parma Faskolor gets my vote. Sticks very well and I like that it is water based. Makes cleanup easy. One drawback to Faskolor is that you have to push it at relatively high pressure. ~ 65 PSI. So you do need a good air pressure source.
Oh and if you want to save money, go to a craft store and get Createx textile paint. Same stuff as Faskolor, half the price. :)

paint to use

yes all, I painted the inside
thanks for the help.
also do you scuff or treat the lexan with anything?

Pactra acryl is water based also, and I find it covers much better than parma. I only use parma if I want a color only they have. Don't get me wrong it is not bad paint I just think after using both that the Pactra is better, just my opinion.

You can scuff the inside of the body, but don't scuff the windows or anyplace you want to use chrome. It is more important to make sure it is very clean before painting, use soap and water, make sure you get all the spoap off then make sure it is completely dry, try not to touch the inside at all once it's clean, then start painting.

I would like to see some pics once you have finished it. Good luck!

I have always used Laquer Pactra, but I bought some of the Pactra Aycrilic colors to test out on my new Protoform body. The do have more of a color selection in Aycrilic for whatever reason. I am going to mix and match laquer paints with Aycrilic so I will let you know if that gives me any problems like color bleed or anything. Pactra makes superb paint imo.

Blazer, I have used both acrylics and laquers on the same body, as long as you let it dry good, and follow your normal dark to light painting you shouldn't have any problems at all.

I agree with you on the pactra being a superb paint, personally I think pactra paint is far better than parma fascolors.

i am also new but y do u have to paint the inside wouldnt it be much harder to get the design u want

because when your roll your truck or hit a tree the paint comes off , but when its on the inside u just scratch the lexan

Nothing beats that feeling of accomplishment you get when the protective layer is pealed back to reveal your work of art... lol
Although a bit more tricky, painting on the inside leaves you with a nice clearcoat effect on the outside.....

Never been a fan of spraying laquer over anything but laquer. Laquers reason why it was used for lexan over the years is it's ability to eat in a bit and hold the surface it is sprayed on to. Add a flex agent and now you have the best paint for lexan available.

Acrylics just sit on the surface, the reason why you can use them with chrome paint.

You may get away with putting laquer over the acrylic when it's fully dry.

I like painting with laquer also, it lays on nicely, lasts a long time and can be unmasked/recoated/painted over in minutes without fear.

ok people first of all FasKolor is just Ceatex with Bond All added to it and yes i have used it on my bodies wit very much success and i aill also give sokme props to Pactra and just buy createx instead but make sure you have a bottle of bond all it should be right there with the createx also you guys may want to use some Createx Auto Air i have also used this and i it has super lexan bonding abilities LOL
