I was just curious to how the power is measured in these little 2 stroke engine. Here at my shop we have a dynojet that we use for 1:1 cars. So are there small scale chassis dynos for these rc cars? Or do they use engine dynos? Or do they just guess?

Does anyone know? There has to be something that measures the power output.

I dont know for sure, but id assume they attach some sort of load giving device to the crank, like they do on 1:1 engines they are benchmarking. From this they can measure the torque and hp ratings.

They wouldnt put it in a car because all cars are different, and the hp to wheel #'s would change based on the setup of the car.

Also, the hp to the wheels would SUCK compared to the crank hp. Manufacturers always like to give crank hp since it's the highest possibly number they can advertise.

Exactly, and if that same engine was in a Mugen as compared to a cheapo car, the delivered hp to the wheels would change and be dependant on too many factors.

dyno for nitro engines,, bug Fantom,, maybe they'll get their gear up a little quicker,, and the software,, *grin*
