I want a aftermarket pipe for my lightning any ideas of a pipe i want it to make the top speed increased. I'm not looking for a whole lot of spped increase not a ton. Also for the 21bb engine do they make any alliminum heads that will fit it? I know you guys are gonna say just get rid of the 21bb but i dont want to i just want a new head. Thanks........Nick

I've been using ofna pipes and havent had any issues or complaints (053/063), for top end you could use their 086 pipe - they run about 50 bucks for header and pipe..

shorter more top end longer more bottom end

also when/if you get a pipe, get a extra exhuast spring and use 2 springs on the header to hold it on - if one spring falls off, you still have another holding it on

I have the THS off-road racing pipe on my lightning pro. Pipes are pretty universal. The worse case, you might have to cut a hole in your body for the stinger if you get one that is a lot longer or shorter.

As far as a cooling head goes... it's kind of pointless to put a $40 head on an engine that you can pick up on ebay new for $80.

I think he's looking for better performance at a lower temp. That engine runs pretty good at 300+, but that's obviously not a good idea. It's just under powered. I rebuilt my stock engine and put in my son's OFNA. My Hyper 8-port Race burries it in the ground every time. 8-port has more acceleration and more top-end. The .21BB (same as the savage) is pretty much a dog. *shrug*

Ya i just want cooler running temps for right now and sell my 21bb with a cool head on it to this kid down the street and rebuild the enngine and sell it to him for about 180 190 the kid always buys stuff off of me he is always willing to pay what i say and if he dont and i can't find anyone to buy the stuff then i sell it on ebay

I found a cooling head from tower it is a golden horizons and it says it is from the savage 21 nitro star engine isnt that the same thing some guy at the hobby shop said it wasn't. I want to get it and he said i wouldnt get it unless it is for sure. But isnt the engine in my lightning the same as in the savage but it is just stampeed with the hot bodies logo?

the golden horizon will work.. BUT honestly a nova is better for the same all around cost.. and to be honest.. its getting cold out so do nto worry about it till spring..

also the stock pipe is a copy of a rb 086... so its a good pipe already

Alright good at a-town hobbies i went there yesterday and bought a fuel filter and a temp gun. But they sell the 086 for 70 and i really didnt want to spend that. But I'm looking into the nova right now. Is the head hard to take off and is it easy to mess up? If it is should i have bruce do it for like 5 bucks? Also is the head screws metric or standard?

WITH our weather ONLY use the stock one till spring.... trust me... it is too cold for a nova in our climate... once its over 70 again worry about it....

ALSO the stock pipe is a copy of it.... SO you do NOT need a pipe....
