I have had a hard time finding an "ideal" glow plug for the TRX 2.5 in my T Maxx. I tried using the McCoy MC-9 plug with mixed results. When I asked the guy at the local HS, he said the MC-9 was not right for that engine, and he recommended the MC-59.

I bought a few of them and intend to try them tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone else has had any success (or failures) with either of these plugs?

i have ran the McCoy 59 for ever. that is the only plug taht i have used and it always worked good.

I use nothing but McCoy MC59 plugs in all engines, from .12s to .21s, even .27s. I stick to what has worked for me in the past few years and more, and well, these work. O.S. #8s work well too, but I stick to my MC59s.

I read on a thread somewhere, use MC9 (i think it was 9) for 30%.
use MC59 for 20%

Is this true??

I use the McCoy #9 in all my engines. I used it in my tmaxx w/the 2.5, and sirio. I also use it for my buggy Rex P5. Maybe because I live at 5000+alt. and have to run alittle leaner. All my engines idle well, have good low and top end. Depends on the atmospheric varibles, and fuel.

Sup dude........I've run the MC59's in various engine over the years and now in my 2.5 with good sucess. THe MC59's are rated for 5-40% nitro and I doubt that the MC9 's are longer lasting or made for a higher % nitro as the MC9's are usually cheaper. I've run the MC9's a couple times with .15 OS motors with good results.....top and low....quick starts!

Peace

this is a glow plug chart from some online outfit I found w/google. Try the 59, and the 9, one of them will get the job done. Good investment.

McCoy Glow Plugs

MC-4C 4-Cycle Engines
MC-50 R/C LONG With Idle Bar-Planes
MC-55 HOT Low Nitro - Planes, Tether Cars, Etc.
MC-59 HOT Low to Med. Nitro - Boats, Planes, Helicopters and 1/10 Scale Cars
MC-8 MED-COLD Med. to High Nitro - Boats, Cars, Planes
MC-9 COLD Med. to High Nitro - Cars, Boats, Ducted Fan and Giant Scale Planes
MC-14 HOT Helicopters and 4-Cycle Engines

I buy mine on ebay. get a sleeve of 12 for about $38 shipped, 59 and 9s listed there often. They're hard to come by were I live.
