While I wait for Diver 6127 to provide me with his wisdom, I thought I would ask the RC forum for some advice. For the Thunder Tiger EB4-S3, what engine/pipe/manifold would people suggest. Reliable and better top speed (for on-road driving). Please let me know.

Thanks.

Well if you want all out top speed for on road driving why not get an Onroad? Regardless a great motor is the RB WS72. Mate that with a good JP-2 or an 086 pipe you would scream! Lots of these members have that mill. Seems to be a favorite. YOu would also want to get taller gearing. Are you planning to race this at all? The RB may be too much of speed demon. I have seen the OS VSpec on an MBX5 and it screams!

I haven't personally owned either but have driven and seen first hand the power it is capable of.

I have the O.S. Max .21RZ-V99B for my Inferno Intl, never ran it, but I heard that the OS Vspec is good too. Please suggest engines/pipes that are made in Japan preferably, I'm ordering my engine from overseas so availability will be an issue if it is mostly sold in the US and not in Jp/HK/Taiwan

I bought the O.S. V-Spec for mine along with th O.S. 2050 pipe. Haven't finished building the TT S3 so I can't tell you how it works with the motor.

Ok here is the list I have so far (any thoughts)?
O.S. .21 RG Buggy (Sport) Engine
O.S. .21 RG(P) Buggy (Sport) Engine
O.S. .21 RG-X (P) w/Pull Start
O.S. Max-21 VZ-B V-Spec-T
Trinity Sirio .21 Buggy Engine Kanai III
Trinity Sirio .21 Kanai Evolution 2 Buggy Engine

I have an RG with JP-1 and I'm on my last break in tank, I'm impressed so far. My first buggy so I decided to start out on the light side until I have some experience. IMO, should be a good setup for tight track, especially for under 200 bones.

If you want a buggy with high speed the O.S. RG probably isn't the best one to go with. I would say either the O.S. V-Spec, RB WS7II, or a Trinity Sirio .21 Kanai III. I am running a Wasp .28 in my MP777 because I don't race and gives out awesome power.

I've been told that the RG is supposed to be an excellent engine with great torque and decent speed. It's supposed to very well suited for tight tracks. I will be buying one tomorrow for $100.00 NIB.
If you want a really fast engine, I ve been told a C-5 or P-5, I believe it's a Novvarossi.

A P-5 would be another great choice. The RG is a cheaper route and you get what you apy for in this hobby...

if you want to run it on the road dont go with the RG, like is already said you need revs not low down torque, ws72 or the vzb v-spec are both very good engines for this, i run a ws72 in my mrx4 on road 8th, and the guy that just one the nats was runing a vzb-vspec, both have very good top end with plenty of pull, rg will not have enough top end for you

Thanks these are helpful, I'm going to check with my rc shop with best prices and revert back to you guys for final advice. I hope to get enough top speed to give an on-road a run for their money.

if you want the sickest top end there is, go with an RB C5 roddy mod. yes its expensive, yes its probibly the fastest top end motor you can buy without going to an engine modifier. you will want to run an 086 pipe with a long header. a 12T clutch bell, and mugen aluminum shoes, lightened, with 1.1 springs.

just remember, speed costs money, how fast will your wallet let you go?

I have never heard of this engine-thanks Ill look into it. Can you provide me with links for the pipe, header and other parts? I'm trying to get these from overseas so maybe the cost will be less. Do you know any problems people have had with this engine, reliability, etc?

If you aren't very experienced w/ your tuning that engine will be the death of you...if you know what ou're doing it will be the death of any one you race.......BALLISTIC......
If you just want flat out top speed I'd say the RB WS7 II......they aren't amazing at the bottom but when they got the room they are sick....they sound like the buggy has a 2 speed init when their power band kicks in.....
AC: I use RGs all the time and I love it....not the fastest mill but my track is very tight so not too many mills are pulling it...now driving skill is another issue......I have my momoents in the sun (a few) but when it comes down to mill against mill w/ driving being equal....the only ones that seem to just dog mine are the V-specs and P5s.....the RZ is just a waste of money IMO....they have more leg than the RG but for the price difference???? IMO not worth an extra 160 bucks......the WS7 is another if they have the room to go but in the short sections they aren't walking all over me like I would expect a 300+ mill to do.....

plaid you can only walk over someone in the short section if you have high traction, the rb has plenty of bottom end power as long as you set your clutch up for it, you need a late clutch not one that engages straight away,

plaid are you the official sales rep for the RG everything you post is RG RG RG RG RG

If you want something with stupid high end go with the RB C-5 as far as I know its the highest revving offroad engine that I know of. One of my buddies has one and its unbelieveable.

No but being still fairly new to the hobby I think alot of you pros are forgetting what it's like to tune some of those monsters you keep mentioning...I went through a bunch of mills trying different things and just find that I can't justify spending the serious coin on a 300 mill if you can't tune it right......why recommend all these high performance engines to guys when they are still learning....I see it happen alot here so I try and throw out my opinion to guys who are just getting in to it.....I mean most of the mills I've had I got from people that took someones recomendation to get "this big bad mill" or the "new supercharged Rossi 20Hp mill"...I mean C'mon alot of us here aren't at that level yet.....I like your advice you give people but (not just you) we're not all out racing on a pro level...I hope to try it someday but I know, and You do to, that money does not make you a better driver.....if you tried all those .21 budget mills I think you'd agree for the majority of the people getting into this it's the best value.....the hypers are nice but I don't think they hold their tune as well.....the 24.7 is pretty good deal but it's not race legal for some....the Fantom is nice but a little pricey for a mill that's not very beginner friendly.....I've had Sirios, Hypers, Fantoms, OSs (i had an RB-z for a week too)...I'm very happy w/ the RG......you like the WS7...are you their rep??? OK I sound like I'm bashing you but it's not like that....I'm just playin gthe voice of reason for the little guy is all......this is just my opinion and I'm sticking to it....and I know you're just trying to knock me down before I come after you in the A-main....LOL.....keep trying I'm still coming

and I know how to set up my buggy for my track, yes....if the guys I'm running against can't do the same w/ their rigs that's not my problem...it's theirs....just another example of people getting equipment beyond their knowledge or capability....but your right if they set them up better they'd be able to run all over me I'm sure.......I set mine up w/ .95 springs and the white plastic shoes (cause they last longer) and I still get the hole shot......and w/ the carbon shoes I'm off like a prom dress...
