Question on Startup

I'm using Duratrax 20% fuel in my Violator. Everytime I start the car, it starts up right away but when I hit the throttle a little, the engine goes off. I recently put a fuel filter in and its gotten worse. Only after starting the car a couple of times, letting the engine get a little hot and hitting the throttle a couple of times very quickly does the vehicle not turn off and then I'm able to run. What am I doing wrong? I checked my high needle but never touched the low end.

My LHS has Megatech Fuel so I will have to switch over too.

Needle

I assume the top end needle should be turned, but how do I know how much? 1/8 enough?

How's this for a new wrinkle? You may actually be too rich on the bottom end (low speed needle). Try leaning it out 1/8 turn at a time until it just won't start. Then come back into it 1/8 turn at a time. When the bottom end is too rich, the bottom of the crank case gets a lot of fuel in it and when you blip the throttle, it spashes up in the combustion chamber and quences the glow plug. A lot of people incorrectly tune their engines rich on the bottom and too lean on the top. It runs, but it's masking a real problem.
