Oil is what keeps a 2 stroke cool, therefore a higher oil content will equal a cooler (more sluggish) motor.
Ok here are the part numbers for the whole double slipper clutch assembely. Slipper clutch plate A-86801, slipper clutch plate B-86802, rubber damper-87243, slipper clutch hub-86800, and the spur gear is a 49 tooth part no. 77094.
I run a 17 tooth clutch bell. I get a good balance of low end torque for some good wheelies and pretty decent top end speed.
Higher nitro will make the engine run cooler due to the fact that it requires a richer setting because of the added oxygen. This should also make the engine last longer as a richer setting means more lube to keep things protected, it's a win win short of the extra cost for the extra nitro.
Nah you're not bugging me that's what we are here for. Betting on the XL is a good bet. I have had a T-MAXX and a Revo in the past both were good trucks but they just don't stand up to the abuse that the Savage line of trucks can. At least not without a lot of upgrades and after market parts. Plus I think they are a hell of a lot easier to work on as I'm sure you're finding out. I like being able to change spur gears by only removing 6 screws or servicing the diffs without even having to take the wheels off. I like the fact that HPI put metal gears in the transmission and steel dogbones all the way around.
I like the stock shocks except for one problem the shafts are a little weak imo. They tend to snap off at the bottom right at the threads and they tend to bend a little. HPI makes a threaded aluminum body shock but I don't know for sure if the use the same shafts. You might consider the HPI big bore shocks unless you like the look of dual shocks at each corner.
Thanks alot for your in put , I'm not to good at landing yet and am not to hard core but I want to build it up for hard core bashing so may be the 8 shock set is better way to go , do you no of a good up grade for the shocks ,ThanksYeah, the 2011 X has the BB shocks std. They need the spacer to fit the top end but that's it. They are good once you fit Hellfire Red Dot springs & 35wt shock oil, until then they are too soft & dont dampen enough for big air.
however the 8 shock set up is more solid for hard core bashing. Big air on BB shocks I've seen bend up shock towers, and stress one shaft instead of 2. Taking a hit from a bad landing or tree that jumped in font of the Truck will more likely cause more damage to a single shock set up then a double.
So handling is better (much better) with BB shocks, but the 8 shock set up will handle more hard core bashing IMO. Using progressive rate springs on the 8 shock set up improves handling a bit.
