Since my wife and I love HPI savages ,but she doesn't care for the roto start or pull start ,I was thinking about putting a Ofna Picco .26 max on this truck. With the EZ start system etc.:D
I know I have to use a traxxas t-maxx motor mount and drill /slot the chassis plate.
I know it will not have the power of the 4.6 but we have several 4.6 trucks she just wants one she can put the wand in it and go :p:,but she wants it an HPI savage x.
This savage has a 3 speed trans. so the smaller motor will have it easier to move this weight ,I will have to play around with the gearing to make it happy for sure.
Has anybody ever tried this???

Ed

Actually you will have to buy the mount for that motor. It's sold sperately. I dont know of anyone trying this, but it sounds interesting. Let us know how it turns out.

cool

:Dyour wife loves this hobby too ! damn your lucky..I have to hide things from her in the mail .....lmao ! when my wife is mad at me she will hide my rc's, crazy right ?

The picco red dot is a 4.6 c.i. The ez start gears and owb have a hard time holding up to the picco. The motors don't last long either. Pre-heating the engine, as well as cracking the glow plug loose helps, but that sounds a little more involved than grabbing the roto start and ignitor.

I saw at another place where a guy took a losi 3.4 and fitted into his LST. Was actually quite peppy. I don't think he was running mongo tires on it though that come stock.

So, if you gear right and run light tires, you should be fine with power.

Check the video section, I posted a video of that. The 3.4 is a great engine, for a small block.

HPI with small block

alien13 I watched the video and it looks great:D. I have never owned a Losi motor how do they hold up and keep a tune?? Also what gearing are you running in that truck?

Thank you,
Ed

Lol, that's not my truck! I have have two Losi engines, a 3.4 in my Speed-NT, and a .28 (454) in my Mutilator, and both run great. Good engines, both run about $160 new, tuning them takes a little patience though. Once they are tuned, they hold pretty good.
