Hey i was browsing throught harbor freight just a second ago and noticed this air brush and wanted to know what yall thought of it. seems pretty nice to me and all i think i might get it. well i can't get a link for some reason but if you go to their site, and then to airtools, then to paint guns, its the 9.99$ one.

That airbrush will limit you to basic paint jobs... You would have the same results with an aeresol can. Save up a few dollars, & pick up a Paasche VL for $69.. Best bang for the buck.. Dont waste your 9.99....

i dont know if you have a lot of pawn shops around you but there always seems to be a few in them around here

Sorry about that. I clicked on your "airbrush list" link and got HVLP style spray guns, so I dropped the link into my reply. Not smoking anything, just can't read! :D

I got mine for only $5, they do 50% off sales all the time. ImBroken is right, it's a simple brush for simple jobs, but it does open your simple paint jobs to a larger audience of color choices, IMO...

Other than Mustang Man's last comment about more color varities, I would hang on spend more on one. In airbrushes, you get what you pay for.

I just got one of those too....I figured I'd try one just to see if I like the feel of the brush....haven't used it yet but even if I get a nicer one it will be good to keep on hand as a second color or filler brush......get an air dryer and Water separator too....I know my compressor is old and passes condensation or oil very easily...I'm rebuilding it next month when the seal kit comes in to pop's shop.....
RP that's a good suggestion I'm going pawn shopping this weekend.....

Ok ill check it out and all thanks for all you guys suggestions, I'm not gonna do anything anytime soon so ill just shop around.

hey fisherman, don't waste your money on that harbor freight air brush unless you plan to spray 1 or 2 color paint jobs. Its not that great and the few I pulled out of the boxes at the store to look at, the paint tips didn't line up with the air flow nozzle so its more apt to spatter rather than flow smooth. I picked one up that was half way straight but still had trouble getting it to flow. Got me a passche VL set now and the kids can have the Harbor Freight POS to play with.

Save your money for a Paasche or some other double action air brush. You wont regret spending the money for a quality air brush when it comes to spraying details.

while you guys are on the topic...I have no clue when it comes to this stuff. What is the difference between single and double stage airbrushes. What can you do with each. For a guy thats just going to do pretty much straight lines with very minimal fading is it worthe buying a dual stage?

I'm posting this not really for myslef, but just to answer some of the obvous questions. For me its just easier to have somebody else paint it. There are some great guys here that do great work. Thats how I'm getting my lids done.

Single Stage= you push the trigger and you get air and paint in one go. You have to adjust your paint flow on something other than your work and waste a lot of paint in doing so.

Dual Stage= you push down on the trigger to get air only, pull back on the trigger to start the paint flow while you have air flow. The amount of paint flow is varied by how far you pull back on the trigger. little pull= light paint, long pull=heavy paint.
