hi,newbie here, like ur forums and i have a vxl rustler and a 1/16 summit vxl for my daughters and I'm looking at a used kyosho half 8, electric, its been on the shelf for most of its life, just needs a stock motor or replacement one, my questions r , is this a good car to get, are they reliable, and are parts easy to get for it, i can probally get it for $50, so just want some honost opinions b4 i buy it! and thanks for the help!!!!

welcome to the site.. I am not sure on the deal you are working on but an r.c for 50 isnt to bad.... how do you like the 1/16 summit? and is it the brushless version or the brushed edition??? its the vxl summit my girls love it, their only 10 and 7 so I'm only usen 1 stock traxxas battey at a time till they get use to it, then ill add more power, we got to go to local baseball diamond and do some bashing, was fun, they finally got to go full throttle in all the dirt, we'll b their tomorrow to, just sucks only have 2 batteries for summit, and 1 for vxl rusty so ill have to bring charger along with! , i like the rusty, but mayb should of got something 4wd instead, but oh well, just need some more batts and mayb a lipo or 2 and we'll have a full day of bashn,if the weather holds up!!

I am trying to save up to grab a couple lipo's for all the electric.. just gets pretty expensive cause now i have 5 electircs so it's gonna add up quick!!! but they are wel worth it.... 4ws drive is fun but with the 2wd you have to learn how to sctually drive... the 4wd is so different on these things....

yes loved my jato 3.3, and wish i still had it, so went with the vxl rustler, and wanna get a 1/16 vxl revo too!and loking at hpi flux too but tryn to get that used $ is tight right now, otherwise i wood have the lipos allready!!!! my neighbor has an 1/8 nitro 4wd buggie, but dam he's crazy with it, no regard for nothing, even the other neighbors lawn, lmao

i have a partial revo roller, just missing electronics, and hole fron assembly,, so debaten to rebuild it, or just get used one and use for parts!, yes sharen the hobby with the kids is alot of fun, they really enjoy it,and the summit is pretty tuff ran into it a few times the the rustler and it held up @ the baseball diamond,, but need more batteries so we can do this for a few hours and not have to wait for them to charge up, i wanna get some lipo for the rustler and stick with the stock traxxas packs for the girls, there only running on 1 anyway till they get use to it, and then ill add 2 for each!!!! looking @ the smc lipo packs, but still not cheap, on a budget rite now!!!

sweet thanks for the info, great place! are all the lipo chargers just dc and not ac i want 1 i can plug in and or use full size car battery! ya and 20$ is cheap for a lipo!! those are for the rustler rite?

It should fit no problem it fits like a glove in the pede. A few guys on here have their chargers. And they like them. Their traxxas style connectors suck I will be switching over to deans.

what chargers are you refering too? and why dont u like the traxxas connecters? there good, and not to hard to solder together. k i wanna put an order in soon and wanna know a good but cheaper charger for the lipo's

Right now I'm still on stock tires. You will have to cut the ends off and put your traxxas plug on it.

when u say power supply from pc, u mean cord that plugs into wall to charge laptop battery????

No is a desktop pc you tear the power supply out of the top of the tower. Some of the wires put out the correct voltage for the charger. I can't do a search on my phone for the link but I know it on here somewhere. It sounds hard but if you take your time it should be easy.

dont have extra desktop to rip apart, i saw some of those power supply things , but alot of them had poor feedback, so not sure, i guess the full size car battery will do for charging now!

the car battery will last alot longer than you will out in the field,or pit,or road,or the baseball diamond.... well you get the pick and the best part about the car battery is you have an altinator to charge it up if it does start to die..

ya my red top ultima should b able to charge my lipo"s ! i hope!



any recommdations for a good rear tire? cause once i get the lipos I'm sure theses stockers will b shot!!

What surfaces do you run on? I was going to get some mashers soon. I run 50/50 dirt and street.
