What do I need with to run?

Well send me a link. I have never seen a 2/3A pack above 1600 mAh. Even MaxAmps has nothing bigger.

My guess is that it's not a 2/3A pack, but rather an AA pack. Those can get up to 2400 and maybe 2600 now.

I made my own out of engergizer 2450Mah NiMH AA cells. Run one in my savage (which has one digital steering servo and one 985MG t/b) and one in my jato, which also runs a digital servo for steering. I have never been able to run either dead in a day. I've burned more than 1/2 gallon in the savage in a single bash session and the pack never showed signs of slowing down. I need more of those days... ;)

I would like to run something like that. I have got plenty of those energizer batts. Problem is the battery compartment in the revo platinum is smaller than all the other revo battery trays.

Ok should I get skid guards cause when I went to my LHS the 5308 didn't have skid guards. Which brand should I get for that cause I want to protect my internals. Is the standard clutch 2 or 3 shoe and should that also be upgraded. Also what does imo mean???
Thanks Sam

IMO = In My Opinion

Standard clutch on a revo is a two shoe. Three shoe clutches are regarded as an upgrade and are better in the long run for better performance.

Skids guards= Good idea.

brands to steer clear of ?? INTEGY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Battery question, NO, NOT neccesarily AA size, but you could have an AA pack or "standard" pak made to order as i plan to do.

And as for rechargeable durable cell (duracell) batteries, i run 2650MAh NiMh for my cameras, maybe i could build a 7.2 pak outta those...................................(what i need ? just batt bars and 60/40 solder ??)

That is exactly my point. We were talking standard receiver packs. The fella comes along and says there are packs bigger than 1600 mAh. Ain't so. Just making sure incorrect info is corrected ASAP. Thanks, Byran!

Addict, there ARE bigger packs than 1600 and once i find the "favourites" link on my hard drive, i will prove it to you. PERIOD

I am saying no more apart from i know what i know.

Hey guys the new REVO's only have two servos one for steering and one for gas/brake. The 5308 as it is referred, comes with a little battery pack that you have to supply 4 AA batteries for.

Please look harder! lol! I'd like a higher capacity 2/3A pack for my aftershock. 1600 I think is as large as I've come across and those were questionable Epic cells. Not sure how "questionable"... I just remember reading about how they would dump out/heat up or just generally crap out in a short time. But I think many were running them in 1/18 scale stuff as the main pack with brushless stuff.

I called Cheap Battery Packs AND Max Amps today and they both said 1600 mAh is max for a 2/3A cell. They said it wasn't possible to build a bigger 2/3A cell. If it was, they would have them. Cheap said they could custom make me a 2400 mAh AA pack that would fit in the same space. The only way to get over that is with a Sub C pack, and we all know how big that would be!

Well, I will still wait for TTESP to find his info... I'd like to get one I wouldn't have to worry about for a while. The one in my aftershock is going on 2 years old and it was just an ebay cheapy 1400mah pack. I'm sure it's going to crap out on me some time soon.

From what I have been reading those are 1600 mAh cells. That is the nominal rating. Almost every cell manufacturer uses the nominal rating to rate their cells, but there is a plus or minus 5-7 percent on that. So anywhere from 1500 to 1700 mAh. Again, I have twice been told that 1600 mAh nominal is the biggest that a 2/3A cell is physically capable of being built to. I don't understand the science and physics behind it, but I will take their word for it.
