I think I got a good deal on a Losi 22 5.0 Elite. But it's set up for dirt and clay. What will I need to do to get it ready for the carpet track opening soon? Other then tires, will I have to get different shocks and springs? This is my first buggy and I don't want to show up looking like the complete rookie I am...lol

Best to do is ask the local guys at that new track to see what setup they run. Ie tires, springs oil sway bars ride height, ect. And what classes they race. 2wd buggy open, stock (17.5T or 21.5T) or mod?

General advice from me:

What is different between a dirt kit setup car and a carpet kit setup car?

Gear diff (most dirt cars for 2wd uses a ball diff)
Ride height (around 10 to 15mm)
Springs (more stiffer)
Shock oil (little bit more thicker)
Diff oil (for gear diff)
Tires
Sway bars (if needed)

Coming from a 4WD buggy and having some knowledge about 2WD, I think that is mainly all of the differences between setups.

On carpet, my buddies, that we used to race at the old loc tracks, most of them ran fuzz bites, pin swags, or proline harpoons. Pink compound for JConcepts. Cr3 for ProLines.

I've been getting this buggy ready and have found a site that shares the winning setups for every make and model out there. All the setups for the 22 5.0 use Associated 13mm springs so I bought some only to realize that Losi uses 12mm shocks. What is the trick to use the newly acquired springs?
