I am fixing to buy aftermarket shocks for my Savage and was wondering what is the best...I know there are some that look really cool..but as far as performance and strength I would like to know....something that will take everyday bashing.....

My stock Savage shocks took a beating and never broke. I personally bought a set of hot bodies shocks for it but never installed them. The stock ones with heavier springs just rocked. No height was too high for my stock shocks.

It depends on if you want to stay with savage length shocks or not. I run 4 Unlimited Engineering Supermaxx shocks in conjunction with New Era upper arms that allow the use of t-maxx length shocks. You can use the Nova shock towers as well to use the stock arms if your not affraid to have aluminum towers.

I run only 4 and I run pretty damn hard. 6 feet of air all day long. If I ran 8 shocks, it would be damn near unbreakable. I did break a shock piston once, but I was about 12 feet in the air and landed hard on the left rear tire first. Snapped the piston in half, but that was the only damage.

Well, that was the only "shock" damage. Upon impact, my exhaust went flying and I busted a stock t maxx rim and also moved the engine to mess up gear mesh.

I also run the 4 supermaxx shocks. I have the nova towers nothing broken yet I love this set up the truck handels lots better.

Lumpy, any chance you have a pic of your truck with that set up. I have a new set of the UE shocks I had purchased quite some time ago. I was originally going to use them on my Maxx, but I already have great shocks on my maxx so I am Thinking of putting them on my Savage SS. I would rather have aluminum shock towers rather than aluminum a-arms.

I guess I'm not a trend setter?

I ran al towers on my maxx and they proved to cause more extensive damage than stock.

The Nova towers will let you slam the truck down low for street/track running. They also give you a much broader tuning margin then the upper arms.

Sorry I don't have a digital camara or a scanner I am lucky this damm computer works my old roommate is a computer geek but he never showed me how to do anything on these wonderfull machines. I would break it and he would try to show me how to fix it but his teaching technics suck. He has a digital camara, I will tell him to bring it on friday and try to get a few shots to ya. Maybe I can learn something.
