What are the best batteries to use for my Traxxas sand rail?

Welcome to the site.
I use smc in my cars now an am happy. I would stay away from traxxas brand. We also have this chart that has alot of time and money into it.

There seems to be some confusion as to how to filter all the data and just be able to look at what battery is better than what. If all you want to know is what LiPo is better, what you want to look for is the "voltage under load" (VUL). The higher that number is the better the lipo is. All you have to do is look at the "VUL" chart in my post and it has what batteries performed better than the others in decending order. If a lipo on the list is higher than another then that lipo is better.
The rest of the data on there is really more just for the sake of knowledge than anything. doesn't...

Welcome to the forum, Irish.

Not having much info to go on, here's what I'd recommend. Running in sand loads the ESC and motor big time. You'll be pulling a lot of amps. Select a battery of whatever size that has a high C-rating of 100+ and/or a high watt hour (Wh) rating. Assuming Lipo power battery, get packs built with parallel cells in addition to series cells. Example: 2S2P. That will help prevent voltage sag and keep the battery from pulling down under heavy load.

I’m running gensacearespammers Basher batteries in my sand thing I call SANDY , and I will NRVER run this thing in the sand , causes to many problems , I have some funny looking paddle tires , never been used for sale , and those antenna lights are still in the box also , there just go dam stupid looking , but I love wheelyn and jumping this thing

I appreciate the info. After watching a lot of YouTube videos and the guys that ran their rails in the sand in the beach like you could just hear the motor bogging down and it was under complete stress and their batteries didn’t last more than 10 minutes.
And with that said I live in Sebring and there isn’t a beach anywhere near the Central part of Florida and I didn’t plan on that anyway I just think it’s a cool looking ride but I’ll be tearing it up in the grass in the parks around here that’s for sure.

I appreciate that and yeah those antenna lights…. all you have to do is roll over once and it breaks it. Just didn’t wanna stay in the socket. And the other thing I find out of course after I already ordered it and I was watching the videos on YouTube and those disc brakes are garbage.(and when I first saw them and then the kit I’m thinking those rotors just are not gonna work and sure enough a week later I’m watching a video and they didn’t.) (and Traxxas even has a piece of paper in there telling them how they need to loosen the brakes up so it didn’t get caught up with a bunch of sand in the rotors)
He ran it in the sand and sure enough it got all caked up with sand anyway and it locked up and it broke one of the hinge pins on the control arms.
And I do not plan on running it in the sand either. I mean even a regular vehicle whether it’s this one or anything else, that’s definitely gonna mess things up. The sand is too fine. It’ll get in everything.

Use the link that Chewy gave you and pick a battery with the highest voltage under load in your price range. Careful though, the top 3 lipos on the list are no prep batteries.
