Hey yell it has bin such a long time sens it has ben warm out and i want to drive me car so bad. I would like to know what a good temp is to run a nitro rc?

Thank you
Jonathan

I run mine most when it's above 40F. Anything between 20-50, I use a piece of bicycle intertube with a hose clamp wrapped around the head to keep the temps up.

just don't lean it out because your temp stays cooler due to outdoor temp's below freezing. I run my XTM Exterm quite often in temp's 0 - 20 degrees and the temp stays lower than the norm 230 to 260 range I like. but I leave the needle alone... richer is safer in cold weather. thawing my fingers out after is what stinks... drive it like you stole it!

You can safely drive your RC in just about any temperature that you might see up there in the DC area, as long as you take some precautions in temps below freezing.

I have run my RCs in snow and ice with temps of near -10F with the windchill. The key is set up and how you take care of the engine.

Note, I would not break in an engine in freezing temps. I would only run if the engine has already been properly broken in.

As for some of the precautions, I always pre-heat my engine prior to priming and starting it. I do this with a hair dryer on the heat sink of the engine for about 2 - 5 minutes.

From there, start her up and run like you want.

When it comes time to stop, get the hair dryer back out and allow the engine to cool slowly by keeping the hair dryer on it...after a bit take it from hi to lo, and then to off. Gradual cool down of the engine will prevent damages from metals that might cool too rapidly and warp.

I personally wait until it has warmed up to 50-60 degrees outside. Anything below that you're needles will be too lean and the engine won't get to temp. (unless you wrap the head or something)

so is 50-60 degrees ok to break in an engine, i will have my new mount soon and am going to want to break in the new sirio.

I donno about breakin at 50-60. I was talking about just running the engine in that temp. If you're itching to break it in, you could bench mount it in the garage or something, vent the exhaust and break it in with an air plane prop. That's hardcore though.

Foil is annoying. I'd use the innertube and hoseclamp I suggested. The foil can cause glitching and it doesn't work very well to hold in the heat as it cools off really fast.

50-60 isn't to bad though. I broke my os 18 in at 40 with the rubber/clamp thing and it seams ok, but only time will tell.
