RC Driving Style
Okay - so I went to the monthly races this weekend - in hopes of trying out me NTC3 with the new lynx 3D FM radio i got. The first race goes off without a hitch, however, due to the fact that i am only a fair driver, i manage to come in 4th out of 10 cars. Thismainly due to the fact that only 4 cars finished. Okay - got my car tuned in a lil better but i notice that it is driving a lil funny - second race comes up and off we go! first lap i notice that my car wont track straight - oh there;s the reason! it only has 3 wheels! well i manage to limp it around and to the suprise of even me i finish 7th, and yes all 10 cars finished. Well, that puts me out of the a or b main, since u need to finish in at least the top 5 to get into the b main. Well, here i am finding out that the upper a arm has snapped off, and that is why i only had 3 wheels. luckily the hobby shop has the part. well, after about 20 minutes of fixing my car, they announce that there will be a C main, a free for all with all the cars that did not qualify. The top spot will advance to the a main. race starts in 5 minutes. I'm about 6 minutes away from fixing the car. my pit buddy and i are rapidly running around with screw drivers. Now there is this rule, that if u dont have all 4 wheels on the track by the start, u cannot race that heat. at 20 seconds till the start - we still have about 2 bolts, and the body to put on - i go running to the drivers stand, leaving him to finish. 5 seconds - still no car on the track, 4 seconds - I'm starting to worry, 3 seconds - i see him moving in our pit area, 2 seconds - and here it comes, 1 second - and all i see is him throwing my car out of the pits toward the track , the light turns green, i have the throttle on before the wheels even hit the ground, and off we go!!!! with a second to spare.........now for the best part........I PLACED FIRST!!!!! out of 16 cars!!!!! dont ask me how. i goto the a main! oops, got my butt kicked in that race...but still what a day of racing!!!!! so much fun, and we all had a blast - the photographer got a pic of him throwing the car onto the track, so i will be sure to post it, when it comes available on the website. What a day i tell ya!

Congrats on your win man! But I have a question. You might have explained it on your post but I couldve missed it. How did you start driving and not notice that you only had 3 wheels? Or was it that you were driving then one wheel came off? Either way, How could you not have seen the wheel come off. O well...again...Congrats on your win! Next month you will win the A-Main, I Believe in you!

Sounds like you had a blast...even if it was a little crazy. I think it is pretty cool that you were able to keep control of the car well enough on three wheels to finish the race. I'd be willing to bet that the fact that the ground clearance on those road racers is like a 1/4 inch (at the most) had a lot to do with your ability to stay in the race. Try that with your MT and you'd be drilling holes in the track and going no where.

Can't wait to see the pick of your RC flying through the air to enter the race.

That's one helluva story man. Sounds like you had alot of fun. And in my book, if you didn't have fun, there was no point in doing it.

And sky, here at the local track, a friend of mine hit a jump a bit akward, landed and lost a front wheel, he managed 5th out of 7th. It was wicked. Busted a-arm ends, managed to strip the axle and the nut, blew the turnbuckle ends into pieces. And STILL managed 5th.. That was a race to see. I caught the tire too :) He wouldn't let me keep it though. lol Needless to say, the 35 minutes wasn't enough time to fix everything lol

But Congrats on your win. Don't you love seeing your creation making a mark in the winners circle? :)

Sounds like a great time. I tend to finish in the top 4 when 4 cars are left as well. its all about having fun. I have never won a race. I have a wall full of 3rd place placards. Hence the name FastEddy.

Once you race you will always race, it gets in your blood.

Good luck next week.

silent - the top a-arm was broke and i didnt know it, so when i took the first right hander, the whole wheel, tire, hub, and cvd came off on the left side. the left side was away from me, so i didnt see it until i came around the next 180degree turn, lol.

sky - yeah, i had the front of the car set at 4mm and the rear set at 3mm.....pretty much a sled with wheels
