I’m looking for a tough solid axle truck that’s not just specifically a crawler but just a general basher like thIs old Tamiya hilux. Is there something like this still that’s not an insane price like the Tamiya high lift?

RC4WD makes some pretty good vehicles, but your still looking at a $500 price tag. Not too many vehicles out there like those that are easy on the wallet. You pay for the realistic look. Strait axles are the most reliable, but the new A-arm designs are pretty freaking strong. some come with aluminum mounts and supports. If they don't come with it, you can get them as a hop-up part.

What exactly is the kind of bashing you plan on doing?

Thanks for telling me about this. I never heard of rc 4wd and the trail finder 2 rtr is exactly the type of thing I was looking for. I just need to save up for it now. I already got a slash and that’s already perfect for high speeds and big jumps. I was just looking for a realistic solid axle truck that could do some light crawling but also had enough speed and tough enough suspension to fly through some sand, bumpy trails or loose dirt or mud if I wanted like in the Tamiya video. And with some small modifications the trail finder 2 seems like it would do that just fine.
