anybody out there knows a trick to get the water out of my tires without taking them off the rims ???...i was able to squeeze most of it out through the air holes in the wheels ...but there is still some left ...got them in the sunshine right now ..see if some will evaporate

any ideas ???

Punch a couple of holes in the center of the tread and peg the throttle while the rig is off the ground. Centrifugal force will push the water to the outside and out of the holes. Obviously this will only work on the tires that have power going to them.

If you have a 2WD it will still work on the fronts, but not as effective. You will need to just drive the rig and the water will come out of the holes.

smart idea ;) tires are off the truck now ..i put a new set on while the wet ones are in the sunshine ...but i will try that for sure next time ..

lol...might just hook them up to the dremel and make them spin like that :p

yea but you have to remove the tire to punch a hole with a leather punch, and forget drilling a hole with an electric drill. So, how do ya punch a hole in a tire once it is mounted?

Tried it... didn't go well. Ended up with a burn out on my shins! I was doing it with a savage tire and a make shift holder in my dremel. Made a hell of a mess and got all cattywompus on me once it picked up speed then the dremel flew out of my hands, did a burn out on my shins the proceeded to spin like a mad man on the floor until I unplugged the dremel. In doing so, it knocked over the 5 gallon bucket I was spinning it down in to not get dirty stinky tire water all over the office.

Like i said... didn't end well. ;)

Better off just making a couple nice clean holes with a small drill bit in your dremel down the center bead of the tire at 6 and 12'oclock and running a few high speed passes somewhere flat and smooth. Use a drill bit with light pressure to sort of burn/melt a hole through the tire to avoid any jagged edges on the hole. I do this with all the tires I run and have been doing it for years for this very purpose.

Holding the truck in the air and gunning the throttle doesn't work well either. You end up with tire water all over you. Did that too... lol

yep, I've done just as olds suggested. just get a small drill bit, like a 1/8thin or so. chuck it up and get started. i do 4 holes as 12, 3, 6, and 9. center of the tread, and like olds said just let it spin with light pressure to cut a clean hole in the rubber.

once this is done, fire up the truck and start with some slow passes and watch the waterworks. you can speed up a little as the water spins out and the tires quit wobbling, until you get up to full throttle.

when i took the summit swimming i did the same thing, but i hung the truck from the garage door and the bumpers, and set the trim on the throttle to about 1/4 and let it run.

thanks for the tips guys ;)

and olds..lol...i would have loved to see that dremel do doughnuts in your office :p ..must of been cool ..in a way ..lol...but ya ..wild power tools can be a bit dangerous sometimes ;) ....ill just drill holes and do some passes

The tires on my 4x4 slash were full of water, so bad that the truck would shake! I did what Rob suggested earlier today and it worked like a charm...Great tip!
