Those 40mm fans definitely work. They have to sit away atleast 5mm.
By the time you add all that weight, the motor is going to be under a ridiculous load and will likely run even hotter. It would be far cheaper and way more practical to just buy a motor and gearing more suited to the application. The whole idea of this is well, just silly.
Water jacket for a marine 540 or 550. Water pump, radiator, and fan. Can bleed it like a computer closed loop system. Have to run distilled water as it does not conduct electricity in case of a leak and maybe some computer water wetter for pump lube and corrosion inhibitor. They also make passive radiators that are small. I’d source a rc excavator rad like this

Check out primal rc’s website. They have a electric conversion kit for the Raminator you can look at. Way to big for a 1/10 scale but you can see how they made a working system.

Or grab a 550 marine can with a jacket already. They have multiple sizes.

And everyone thinks everything’s a dumb idea til it works. Never listen to anybody about trying something out because you’re interested in it. That’s how progress and innovation are achieved.
Thanks guys for the info!😀

Now, for me to even attempt this i need some more beefy shock on the car i planned to do it on.....
So me being stupid decided to buy some shocks from a arrma senton (which weighs about the same as the calculated weight for the car i would like to try it on) but then soon realised that they were way to long for it and made the ride height rediculosly high and made it so the chassis when fully pushed downwards couldn’t even touch the ground but remain about a inch of it. (which apparently is bad)

So i am now looking for 90mm shocks that should definitely fit it and i found a few that are meant for crawlers. They are meant for a trx4, km2 and a d90. So that means if they are meant for a trx4 which weighs about 3.3kg and a d90 which is about 2.3kg, they should be good to support around 3kg of weight which the car should weigh with everything in it.

Does it matter they are crawler shocks (because i can add some thicker oil to them) and also which one out of these shocks would be the best for my application?😀🤷‍♂️

Cheers,

It's cool your trying to water cool your electric motor. BUT WHY. What type of motor you running in your short course. Trying something new is awesome. But your going to be adding more weight to your SCT. When you really want to lighten it. Just wondering why add all these extra components and weight shocks among other things. When you can probably just upgrade your motor and esc or fans.. just curious to why. Just to see if it can be done.. Do you race?

You can add heavier shock oil to any oil filled shock.. but that has nothing to do with holdng up the extra weight. The springs will end up with all the weight on then not the oil bud

Here's an interesting thread on a water cooled Kraton:

Yeah I know what it is and does. And that's a kra not a SCT..
Still doesn't answer the why. I understand trying new things but this doesn't make sense on a SCT.. sorry by all means you can spend all the money on your rc you want. Thats what it's about. But why waste your money to just add extra headaches. You already have a heat issue adding more weight isn't going to help just cause your TRYING to water cool it
There's a reason why they aren't on ELECTRIC cars... and mostly only on boats

Just wanting to try it to see what happens😀. Why would it be better to do it on a kra and not a SCT, just curious?
Also i do get its not very practical because its gonna add a lot of weight and that would cause the motor to be under more strain decreasing speed (and in the end probably be around the same temp if i had just used like 2 powerhobby twister fans), be more complicated and if i use it for bashing or even crashed while doing a speed run or something the hoses could come off and ruin everything but believe it or not its cheaper to water cool it than get 2 powerhobby twister fans (which btw are they any good for bashers and how much degrees do they roughly cool the motor).

Also it would be great if someone could tell me if crawler shocks are ok on a basher (with thicker oil of course) and which one of the shocks i listed above would be the best 😀
