I posted on a different board and did not get much response. This board seems to have alot more going on. I am new to the hobbie. I really wanted to get into the 1/8 scale buggies so I took the leap and bought a Hyper 7 pro. I have not started to build it yet. I am deciding on an engine. I was wonering if anyone has put a wasp or p3 into a buggy? I also wondered if anyone has installed the ofna 2 speed in a buggy? I have never really read anthing about the 2 speed in the 1/8 scale buggies. Iv been told there is no need for a 2 speed in these cars. One more question. I am in the process of buying a steering servo. Any suggestions? I was thinking of the JR Racing z650m. 142oz/in torque. Anyone using this? Any input would be really helpfull. Thanks.

First off,

Congratulations on the purchase! I have The Hyper 7 PCR Pro. Second, HOLD ON TO YOUR RECEIPT!!!. The reason I say this is Ofna is notorious for leaving out parts or putting the wrong ones in. If you do have a problem just Fax over your reciept and they will be happy to send you the correct or missing part. Also I had trouble building mine as they don't give you a real size reference of the actual screw required so I used some digital calipers to figure that out. You also may want to sort the screws first into the coordinating parts they are going to be used in. I should have done that but I was too damn optomistic. Lol. Anyways Don't try talking to OFNA tech support as they are pretty useless other then sending you the correct parts you need.

As far as the 2 speed, I am curious myself but I think if you have correct gearing the single speed should suffice. The 2 speed would mainly be for drag racing or top speed challenges. I just need quick accelleration to jump!!!:breakdown I have purchased a Hitec Hitec 645 MG It is perfect for my needs.

You may want to upgrade your pipe as well

Good luck and bash the hell out of it!!!

Jon

I have a buddy who has the Wasp .26 in his buggy and it rips! It's a really strong engine, and if you're a basher I'd reccomend it.

The JR 650m would be a great servo. 142 oz/in @ .17 sec. at a cost of $49.99 is a pretty good deal anywhere you go. That's actually the one I run in my PCR, and it turns the wheels with ease.
