Just happened to be passing by the mall this afternoon on my patrol's so I decided to go and price some accessory's for my ipad 2, when the lil dude working inside asked to check out my otterbox on it. He saw that my ipad was jailbroken and made some comment about plugging it into his computer to record my serial number and report it to "Headquarters". So i snatched it out of his hands (in full uniform) and told him to kiss my ass and walked away. I promptly went over to the table's where they have like 10 ipad 2's setup for display and jailbroke each and every one of them. I love the apple products, but screw the "Apple will rule the world" attitudes that their reps/employees have.

Completely agree. Ipods, ipads, and iphones are great devices, their demand to keep a stranglehold on their devices pisses me off. I wentto android when the G1 came out years ago and will likely never go back. I do own an iPod touch and use it mostly for working out BC I don't want to be bothered by hone calls and texts. Ipads are awsome, but apples insistance to not include expandable memory keeps me using android tablets also.

But if you were able to pay for a 32 and use a micro SD card that you could easily swap between devices and PC to load and back up files, wouldn't that be benificial. Even better, when your device takes a nose drive, pop your card out and into your new and there's your music, photos, aps, movies, everything. That's why I demand removable media. Like I said, the device is great, but willfully lacking in basic features I consider a requirement.

By the way, genius move jailbreaking the ipads, too damn funny.

The "Apple Will Rule The World" attitude and the fanatical lock down of their equipment really turns me off when it comes to Apple. I also like being able to add storage to my devices so no expansion memory slots is also kind of a deal breaker on a phone IMO. I will continue to use the iPods because that's what everyone has defaulted to for cars and the like.

Actually it's not a law but a contractual agreement. All Apple can do is deny warranty service on a jail broken unit.

There is nothing illegal with jailbreaking devices. At all. Apple tried to illegalize it, but they couldnt because you OWN THE DEVICE. and if you wish to change the software on your device then its your choice. So your saying if you buy a PC with windows vista and put windows seven on it because its a better system, then your breaking the law? You keep trying to take shots at me about doing "illegal things" and its pretty petty.

Nothing personal meant by it. The biggest problems with this country start with the most basic "petty" things. The bottom line is you're an officer of the law of whom used to be and still should be of a higher character.

It's better on my truck if I roll through a stop sign, saves gas and wear on my brakes. That's better right? But you'll write me a ticket if you see it because it's a written "law" that I must stop. I agreed to follow the laws when I got my license,so I stop. Even in the middle of the night with no one around. You signed your name to an agreement,if you don't like their terms, buy a different product rather than cheat the system and then get upset about how you're treated.

And if there were a law against jailbreaking a device, then my devices would not be jailbroken. But as stated before, there is none. But I'm not going to risk some kid I dont even know to download my personal information as well as classified documentation on open cases I'm working onto another harddrive for him to view and have access to. I have passwords and programs installed on my device that give unrestricted access to people's personal information which is meant for police work. I have no warranty on my device as it was bought second hand from an individual, and have thus not agreed to any terms with the Apple corporation.

Wish more apple fan boys would realize exactly what you just said alpine. Just got a new phone could of got iphone4 passed on it for a older droid. Itunes can kiss my you know what. I download any song i want for freeeeeee

oh yeah BTW xbox>ps3

the display models have the ability to download programs on to them. which is all jailbreaking is. Adding a program called cydia. The employees reformat every night to remove the programs that people passing through the store download each night. so no. Not vandalism. If i had put a virus or done anything to damage the device (which i would NEVER do), then it would be a different story.

That is my biggest issue with Apple is the strangle hold proprietary everything....I DO own and iphone but that is because that was the best smart phone my company here in Korea had....I mean that by they didn't have any really good driods. Now I do like the phone....however I HATE and I mean HATE itunes for music. OMG that stuff pisses me off.

Yea, the BEST thing that apple ever did was allow outside songs to be added to itunes library

I think jailbreaking them is better an standing there surfing porn like I have seen people do....but Apple reps....can bite me. They are trained to have this ridiculous superiority complex....I offerred to kick the ass of one of them when i was at home on leave in the states. Punk weighed about a buck twenty...maybe. He told me I would just have to understand HE KNOWS more than me due to VIRTUE OF HIS JOB and told me he knows what is best for me...I mean he has been doing this for a long time and he KNOWS what people needs. I told him I am in the business of blowing shizt up and killing people so what is best for me? It just kinda went down hill from there....

The apple mentality is centered around "we know what's best for you". And in many regards this has helped keep their product up to its reputation. "It just works" applys because it is locked into its lane and can't go into any direction other then what apple has deemed without breaking their rules, and then its because you did what you wernt supposed to. I have far more problems with my android powered phone then someone with an iphone (unjailbroken) has because I load a new ROM every other week. I am constantly trying to make it do something it couldn't do yesterday. I accept these problems with open arms because I know every up has a potential down and I could easily avoid them but that's not in my nature.

Understood.

So downloading that program did exactly what then? Aside from satisfying your need to retaliate over somebody doing their job? Don't hate the player, hate the game. I own no Apple products because I generally agree with your overall stance.
