Um, when did Walmart decide to become the moral compass of society? Did I miss the memo on this one?

Today was the release of KORN's latest album and since the closest place that sells CD's to where I work is Walmart, I decided to run up during lunch to grab a copy (I figure, little early birthday gift!)

All the have are the EDITED versions! What? I ask if, maybe, they have the unedited versions squirreled away and I get, "Nah, uh, honey. We only sell the edited version."

So, wait a minute. Walmart is OK selling movies on DVD like "Grandma's Boy" (which is funnier than heck) that are filled with all sorts of "not for children" material but won't sell the unedited version of KORN's latest album?

Come ON! This is ridiculous! They'll sell me beer and smokes, but because Jonathon Davis drops an "F" bomb, they feel I cannot handle it?

Irony?

Thats pretty sad . I remember getting cd's from columbia house and they were all edited also .

Hold on you mean to tell me you shop at walmart?

Now thats funny.

Hey man!

My 'ol lady works there.

Know that real old, fat, slow, ugly bitch that is always in the express lane....

That's not her.

I bought a Limp Bizkit CD there once, got it home and found it was edited, so I took it back. They tell me we dont take back cds if they have been opened. Well I went off on them, told them you will take it back, that I was plenty old enough to hear whatever I chose, and they have no right censoring what I listen to, and I did it loudly, well I got my money back and went out and got the correct version elsewhere.

In the meantime Ill bet they will sell g-strings to a 12 year old.

Just like Cigs and alcohol, if they choose to be on the moral bandwagon, put a sticker on the damn thing and make us show ID. Anything short of that and they are hypocrites.

BTW,
WTF is a WallMart? :D

Bro, they've been doin it ever since Metallica's Garage Inc. came out. Nothing ever pleased me so much to here "So *BEEEP*ing what?!" (over 32 beeps in 2 minutes. Yes, I counted 'em) come out of my car stereo. I didn't make it out of the lot before I took it back and asked the manager if he'd like to see if a rear end can double as a cd player.

Needless to say, I got my money back, and went to the right place to get my music. A store called the underground.

Walmart? Moral Compass? Man, you have to go there more.
No, you can thank Tipper Gore and the PMRC for all that. You yung'uns might not know of what I speak. But those of us old enough to know get a knot in our sphincter when either of them are mentioned. A true travesty of justice initiated by your government to railroad those damn hippy headbanging rebels. Do you honestly think that Twisted Sister can turn a mild mannered nerd into a mass murderer overnight? [/rant]

I'm thankful that censorship is still a bad word over here.

The only time we get blips on the TV is when American shows are on.

Walmart and moral compass...LOL These should not be used in the same sentence! But for as long as I can remember Walmart has only stocked the censored versions.

If any of you guys ever need help getting a hard to find cd just drop me a pm with what you want...If it's available anywhere I can get it.

PMRC!!! in the famous words of Blackie Lawless....They Can S*ck Me, S*ck Me...Eat M* Raw................

Hmmm, censored myself! LOL

Oh, I know all about Tipper and her PMRC, trust me! I know they record labels produce two versions of most albums and put "Explicit Language" warnings on the unedited versions. What surprised me is that Walmart didn't carry the unedited version to begin with! I can go to Best Buy or Circuit City and find both versions readily available, it just surprised me to see DVD's like "Super Troopers" and "Clerks" sitting out there but I cannot find the unedited version of the album I want!

What rock you been livin under? They've always been like that as far back as I can remember.

I'm thinking the same rock you were conceived under!

WTF is a WallMart? :D

Is it, like a place where you buy stuff for your walls? (Credit The brilliant Paris Hilton for that one)

PC....Politically Correct. That's just a politically correct way of telling us that we have lost our freedom of speech.
When I was a kid, this was a free country.

They've been doing this with music, since the late 80s or early 90s, that I'm aware of.

Hold on you mean to tell me you shop at walmart?

Now thats funny.

If I want to shop anywhere but wal-mart, I have to drive 40 minutes to an hour away. Thankfully, we have a Krogers, for groceries. For anything else, it's wally world or a road trip.

The local wal-mart doesn't even sell beer. If you want booze, it's Krogers, a conveince store, or the drive-thru in the middle of town.

I don't bother with buying beer there.
By the time I do the long walk from the parking lot, than to the back of the store.

I'm ready for a nap.

Guess I've been living under a rock. Didn't even know they were editing them.
I remember the Tipper Gore crap. Thought they were just marking them with labels. Most of my stuff is oldies.
