If you're working with plastic gears I'd reccomend "Super Lube", its a mineral based grease thats safe for plastic. I use it anytime that I have to work with those dreaded self-tapper screws.

Lithinium, red and tacky. or any petrol-based grease can be used on metal (like metal diff gears), but they are bad for plastic.
 
I use Mobile 1 synthetic grease.
