Hey dudes,

I bet some of the older comrads are saying "What the hell are vans OR etnies?" Well, they are shoes. You can probally say why do you care, but I just can't decide between the two. I'm looking at ether the Cinch Etnies in White/White/Black or the Geoff Rowly XL3 Vans. Just pick the ones you think look better or give another input of Idea.

Thanks,
Spit

Vans have been around for longer than you think, the etnies I have never heard of so my opinion would be obvious.

Both Vans and Etnies have been around since the mid 80's. I remember when Vans were the "shoes to have" in the skateboarding crowd. Ask Plaid, he probably wore them. The BMX crowd also dipped in to them.

As far as the ones you're choosing, they look the same in design. If you're just choosing for the look, pick which one you like. Otherwise, remember one thing ... it's your feet. Your best bet would be to try them out at the store. Comfort and support are the only way to choose. Pain and discomfort for the rest of your body will ALWAYS start with your shoes. Try them out at the store, then decide.

I prefer Rockports, comfortable shoes that you can work or play in. They look great with black dress socks and bermuda shorts, especially on the beach.

I've had a pair of both(Diffrent kinds though) and both are extremely comfortable. Ryan, I really don't like boots...

About the Vans, I didn't mean to show any offence, just didn't want any questions like "What the hell are those?".

Thanks for the input, I hope theres more to come.

Rowley shoes are the most comfortable and best skating shoes I've ever owned in my life. But they didnt last me three months. Shoes stayed intact but grip faded fast! So i didnt buy another pair

Etnies, skate good....and theya re pretty dependble....been rocking my current pair for 6months and still alot of tread.

I'd go with etnies

i like the vans, just got another pair yesterday. probally have about 20 pairs of them. i would get a pair of etnies but i would have to buy them online and I'm not sure what size i would were in them

A tip on not potentially offending anyone, don't start off with this:

I bet some of the older comrads

Yeah, probably not a good ice-breaker to open with.

Oh, and for the record, I have four pairs of Vans: black checkerboard loafers, red checkerboard loafers, skull loafers and a pair with some sweet flames on 'em!

Yeah, uh huh, I'm bad!

Ecco! Best things you can put on your feet! Start a new trend and skate with a pair of Allen Edmonds or Bruno Maelli's! Seriously though, I have like 3 pairs of Ecco sandals and if the weather cooperated where I live I wouldn't wear anything else.

Visions Biotch!! Do they even make them anymore?? lol.. I have a pair of Etnies and there really nice shoes. I've had them forever and there still comfortable. I just bought a pair of "Soap" shoes that have grind plates on em. There pretty kick ass. My S.Carters are still my favs though.

Ah Visions Street Wear, I had a pair back in like 6th grade...like totally rad dood.

4u, are the soap shoes run smaller sizes cause i can only find a size 8 for the biggest, and i need a 14.

Do you actually skate? I go through shoes in like 2 months, depends what season. I would get which ever will last you the longest and wont fall apart where the board hits. I went through my last pair of DC's in like a month lol. I just got some Circa's with lace guards and they seem to be lasting pretty good so far. But if I were to choose, id get the Rowleys.... those rule. And he is too damn good lol.

Sometimes...I suck at skating. I'm a BMX dude. I'll have to try these on. The last pair I had(Etnies) were the Icons and didn't like the look AND they sucked at any grip at all. Thats why i'm going to look at the Cinch. My friend has one and he skates WAY more than I do and they look like they're holding up well.
